あやかしごはん Ayakashi Gohan ~ Manatsu

Here’s Manatsu route Summary. He has three endings as well. A best end, good end, and bad end. I should mention that you can’t get his last CG until you complete Asagi’s route and redo his best end. ((which I haven’t done yet. psh.))

Serigano Manatsu runs a shop that Gin often receives food ingredient deliveries from. He’s a gentle, kindhearted man who also has a soft spot for Suzuri. He’s apparently Suzuri’s uncle and his sister who died was the woman that Gin loved and had Suzuri with. He’s all clumsy like since when he rides his motorcycle he always ends up crashing it. He’s voiced by Kazuyuki Okitsu.

During the Christmas party Manatsu sits down next to Rin asking if she’s okay since she looks a little down. Rin says its nothing but he can clearly see through her. He then hands her a flower and says its a Christmas
present. He asks if she likes it and she says she does and thinks its really pretty. Apparently its a type of primrose. She thanked him and he says he’s glad he could make her smile since she looked pretty sad not too
long ago. Manatsu says when she’s happy he’s happy. Rin thanks him and says she’s always able to smile when he says things like that. He tells her if she ever feels like crying, he’ll remember that. He asks why she was down in the first place but she says she doesn’t really know why but because she never had such a fun Christmas before she felt a little sad even though she was really happy. He says a pleasant life doesn’t last forever but it won’t be ending anytime soon. She feels a lot better thanks to Manatsu cheering her up and thanks him. Manatsu says he didn’t do anything to deserve thanks but is glad she’s feeling better. Suddenly she feels a sense of nostalgia as if she’s seen a smile like that before. She wonders if it wasn’t Manatsu then who could it have been. Gin and the rest interrupt her to eat cake together.

Later Manatsu has been drinking a bit and says he wants to step outside for some fresh air. He asks Rin to come along and join him and she does. As they’re starring at the sky it begins to snow and Rin gets all excited since its a White Christmas and starts running around. She then slips on a wet puddle but Manatsu was able to catch her just in time. Apparently being hugged like that tugs at her and makes her feel nostalogic.

Manatsu calls her name and hugs her more tightly. Rin is surprised but then suddenly something appears really quickly and Rin says she
thought she saw an Ayakashi. When Manatsu hears this he lets go of Rin and sounds slightly sad. Rin asks if he’s okay but he says he’s fine. He tells her to be more careful and goes inside to have another drink.

Several hours later the Christmas Party ended. Manatsu drank so much that he couldn’t even go home so Gin let him stay the night. Rin helped Gin take Manatsu to another room. After Gin left to get Manatsu some spare pajamas Manatsu’s laying on the ground saying he’s gonna have a hangover tomorrow. Rin told him he drank way too much but he said he had a good time so its okay. He then starts saying how Rin isn’t the only one who is uneasy cause he is as well. He starts wondering when the happiness will end and when they’ll part. He’s always felt uneasy about this. Rin doesn’t really understand what he’s saying but Manatsu says he’s sorry and its nothing.

Soon Gin comes back and says he’ll take care of the rest. Rin then goes to her room wondering what Manatsu was talking about. She then sees out the window the Ayakashi she saw when she was with Manatsu earlier. She feels she’s seen it somewhere before and feels really uneasy for some reason. She’s about to go out and try and see it but it disappears and so she decides to go to bed. She then has a dream where someone is apologizing but she has no idea why.

The next morning Rin encounters Gin and Manatsu. She remembers that Manatsu stayed the night so he said he was helping make breakfast. Gin then tells Rin and Manatsu to peel potatoes for breakfast.

Later, Rin invites Manatsu to go walking around the woods with her. She wants to go build a snowman and so while they’re walking Rin spots that Ayakashi again then trips over in surprise. Manatsu catches her again and asks whats wrong. She says she saw the Ayakashi from yesterday in the depths of the forest. He asks where but its already gone and for a
moment he has a sad look on his face. He tells her not to worry about it and pats her head. She apologizes for accidently clinging to him when she fell and he says its okay and is only glad she’s not hurt. Rin wonders about the Ayakashi and Manatsu just makes a weird face and says he doesn’t know. Then he and her decide to leave the forest.

Afterwords Manatsu is telling Rin about his sister. She used to happily eat dinner with him and Gin together. Meanwhile before he knew it his sister had fallen in love with Gin. He told her she was pretty bold around Gin
because she was madly in love with him. Soon the two got married and then had Suzuri. Rin thinks she sounds really amazing and wonders if Manatsu ever loved someone like that and he says he may have. He tells her like he said before, he intends to always be by himself. She asks if he’ll stay that even if someone falls in love with him but he just gives a vague answer with a smile. He then holds Rin’s hand calmly as he glances at her. He says he always feels calm when he does this. Rin feels embarrassed and says that something like this would more be suited to calm Suzuri. He laughs and says she may be right. She feels a bit sad when he lets go of her hand. She started to wonder about his feelings towards her and feels she may be drawn to him somehow.

After that Manatsu arrives at the shop but no one is there but Rin. Apparently everyone’s out and about cleaning the whole place and Rin’s washing the windows. Manatsu offers to help and Rin thanks him and goes to get him a dust cloth. Rin encounters Suzuri while going to her room and finds that he drew a picture of Manatsu.

image

She then returns with the dust cloth and her and Manatsu are cleaning the windows together. Manatsu reaches all the high spots for her and once they’re done Rin says she’ll go dump out the dirty water. But he insists he’ll do it since her hands are probably cold. He then says he’ll warm them up for her and takes her hands into his. She can’t help but gaze at him and he says if they stand like this they probably won’t get any cleaning done but he doesn’t want to let go of her hands. He then lets go and says they should get back work. Rin says at this rate she’s going to start to love Manatsu more and more.

The next morning Rin had another strange dream but couldn’t recall it any further.
——
January

Its New Years day and Rin decided to wait until Manatsu finished with some business. He arrives at the shop with only Rin there. Everyone apparently left to go to the shrine since Suzuri was eager to go and Yomi and Uta were tired of waiting for Manatsu. Rin asks if he’s okay with going with just her and he’d be happy to. Rin suddenly blushes and he asks if she has a cold or something since her face is red and she stutters saying she’s fine but Manatsu decides to put his forehead to hers to confirm that she doesn’t have a fever. He notices she’s pretty warm and she says its cause of him and he’s all “me?” and she pushes him back in a hurry. Manatsu says if thats the case they should get going then. Rin gets all energetic and is about to dash out the door but Manatsu hesitates. He then says he wants to visit the shrine but he wants to see “that” first. Rin has no idea what he’s talking about but follows him anyway.

Rin soon finds out that Manatsu wanted to see the Cherry Blossom tree bloom on New Years day. Rin says it looks really beautiful and tries
to catch the falling flowers. Suddenly she gets a nostalgic feeling as if this same event has happened before and has a flashback with someone
to who looks to be Manatsu.

image

While Rin is in thought about this she notices Manatsu starts crying. She asks whats wrong but he says he got something in his eye.  Rin feels she’s seen this happen long ago and decides to ask Manatsu if this same thing has happened before with the two of them since she feels she’s seen it before. Manatsu claims it hasn’t and that she must be thinking of an old friend of hers. Soon after their conversation is interrupted when Suzuri appears with Gin to view the Cherry Blossoms as well. Manatsu tells Gin “I suppose I should say its been a while then…?” and he replies “Thats right it has been a while, huh?” Rin is confused since it obviously hasn’t been that long since they’ve seen each other last. But the both of them hide their thoughts by looking at each other. Suzuri then asks Rin to try and catch the falling cherry blossoms.

Meanwhile Gin and Manatsu are having a questionable conversation together.

Manatsu: “So it was you Gin.”
Gin: “You must have remembered then.”
Manatsu: “Yeah, sorry. You’ve really grown since then, Gin.”
Gin: “Strange to hear you say that when I’ve been living such a long time.”

Suzuri and Rin watch them from a distance and agree they’re both acting kind of strange. After, Rin and Manatsu go to pull fortunes. Manatsu forgot to tell Rin but gives his best regards this year and Rin says so in return. Rin starts to feel very nostalogic feelings again when she sees him smile but then it disappears suddenly. He asks whats wrong and she flips out a bit and slips to the ground. He says she needs to be careful tells her to take his hand to help her up. He keeps holding on to her hand until they reach the shop so she doesn’t fall again.

Time passes and Manatsu visits a lot while Rin tells him fun stories.
One day on a Sunday Rin is home alone again and everyone is out buying tableware. Manatsu arrives wondering where everyone is and Rin explains they left to buy tableware. She notices he’s tired and apparently its because he was up all night reading a “How to book of a top sales man” and writing a summary of it in a notebook. Rin thinks its amazing he’s able to do that and still work and he thanks her saying he’ll be able to work even harder cause of her. Rin notices how tired Manatsu look so she suggests that he sleeps here momentarily since Gin won’t be back for a while and he doesn’t have any more delivery trips to make today.
He’s happy to oblige to her suggestion and Rin asks if he needs a blanket and or a pillow and he asks if he can use her lap as a pillow.
He thinks he’ll be able to feel very replenished if she does. He’s all “だめかな……?” and she finally agrees after his second plea.

image

He claims he feels a lot better now and starts to fall asleep on her lap. Rin decides to read a book in the meantime and suddenly she falls asleep and wakes up with her head on Manatsu’s lap this time. He says he’s glad he got to see her cute sleeping face. Rin’s all embarrassed but he says there’s nothing she should be embarrassed about since she slept so peacefully. Rin apologizes but he says its okay since he missed doing that and Rin’s all confused but obviously he’s tells her oh its nothing. Soon they both have grumbling stomachs and realize they’re both pretty hungry. They decide to make some food in the kitchen. While eating Manatsu claims the food is much more delicious when he’s eating with
Rin. She says she feels the same way and starts thinking they sound like lovers. While she thinks this Manatsu goes ahead and says it out loud.

After Rin hear’s this she starts choking on her food saying he surprised her since he said something so weird. He agrees and asks what type of things she’d do or think with a guy (or something??) and she says she’s never thought about it so she doesn’t really know. He then asks imaginatively speaking and she says she’d be worried a lot in that case that they would talk to a lot of women and start to lose interest in her. Manatsu doesn’t think thats likely since if she was his girlfriend he’d treasure her and would never see someone else. She thanks him and asks what he thinks and he says he’d get easily jealous to see his girlfriend getting along with other guys. Rin starts wondering how they even started talking about this and then Suzuri and Gin get home. Manatsu whispers to Rin that they should spend time with just the two of them again. And to those words, Rin’s heart goes dokidoki.

February
——
Rin is at home and notices Suzuri looks anxious. She asks whats wrong and he’s wondering what Valentines day is since he’s heard about it at school recently. Gin then comes over and explains to him that Valentines day is when a girl gives a guy she likes chocolate. Suzuri then asks if Rin is going to give him chocolates and she says of course she will cause she loves him lots. Rin then leaves to go to her room. She thinks about how
she wants to make Valentines for Manatsu as well. She doesn’t really understand her feelings well ((I mean its love obviously but idek)) so she thinks she’ll understand better if she gives Valentines chocolates to Manatsu.

The next day Rin buys a recipe book for chocolates on her way home from school. Rin is looking at different chocolate recipes at home and Suzuri notices and looks at the different types of chocolate. Uta and Yomi also appear saying they prefer ‘milk chocolate’ clearly insinuating they wouldn’t mind her making chocolates for them too.

Several days later on Rin’s way back from school she’s thinking about her preparations for the chocolates. Manatsu then randomly appears on his
motorcycle noticing Rin. He’s done of his deliveries so decides to walk home with her. She then asks him if he likes chocolates and he says he
loves any type of chocolate. She’s happy to hear this and he wonders why. She says cause Valentines is coming up and he mentions he completely forgot about it. She tells him to expecting her to give him some and he’s all surprised and says “for me?” and Rin gets embarrassed and says “yes” all nervous like. He asks if its “honmei” or special chocolate for a lover and she gets too nervous so says its just obligatory chocolates. Rin asks if he wouldn’t except it if it was “honmei” and he says he probably wouldn’t. Rin laughs it off saying that its true chocolates like that would be a very special and overwhelming thing to receive. He then says he’s looking forward to receiving her chocolates but Rin’s a bit disappointed and is all worried about it over night but decides she’ll just make the chocolates for him and see what happens.

The following coming days Rin is in the kitchen attempting to make chocolates. She’s made a lot of failures and is still practicing day by day.
One day while she’s still trying Yomi comes into the kitchen noticing she isn’t asleep yet. He noticed she hasn’t slept much lately since she’s been falling asleep in class. She thanks him for telling her and says she’ll be sure to rest up.

Finally the day before Valentines arrived and Rin decides to try and make the chocolates while everyone else is asleep. Gin notices she’s awake
and offers to help but Rin insists she wants to do it by herself. He wishes her goodnight and finally at 2:00 AM Rin is able to make them.

The next day its Valentines Day and Rin gives all the chocolates she made for Uta, Suzuri, Yomi, and Gin. She also has some for Manatsu and remembers what he said and feels a little sad. After school she goes by the Cherry Blossom tree. She can’t bring herself to give Manatsu the chocolates because she knows her feelings are in them so she doesn’t want to tell him they’re just obligatory ones. While there she notices an annoying child Ayakashi who claims that they like to play there. They then notice Rin’s chocolate and say they want it but Rin says its for someone special and they whine and grab it then drop it and it rolled away into the forest. They apologized and Rin was about to give up on it but decided she’d look for it instead.

Later it shows Manatsu giving a delivery to Gin. They wonder if Manatsu recieved chocolates from her yet and he says he hasn’t. They notice she’s taken a while to come home too and start to worry. Just then Uta and Yomi come home claiming that Kami-sama saw her near the shrine.

Rin is searching the forest but hasn’t found it and its already gotten late. She had a twisted ankle since she’d tripped over a tree root. Soon she hears Manatsu’s voice and he finds her. She tries to run over to him but trips and he catches her. He then gets a little angry and says its dangerous for her to be here and wondering what on earth she was doing. Rin overwhelmed by him and the fact she couldn’t find the chocolates starts crying. He apologizes saying he was too harsh but he was only worried about her. Rin then hugs Manatsu telling him she loves him. She told him an child Ayakashi had lost her chocolates in the forest and she was trying to look for them. And also mentions that the chocolates weren’t actually obligation ones but “honmei.” She starts sobbing and Manatsu hugs her back. He tells her he’s happy she told him her feelings and that he loves her as well. He’d held back his feelings for a long time as painful as it was. She asks why and he says they were destined to never be together. Rin is confused and he tells her its their fate. Rin then starts getting a head ache and she hears a voice that sounds like Manatsu saying “Princess Rin.” She then loses consciousness.

image

Rin then finds herself in a mysterious dream like space. She encounters an Ayakashi named Baku who’s met her many times already. He was the Ayakashi she witnessed multiple times but always disappeared. He then shows her a scene of “Manatsu” and “Rin”. She confesses her love to him while he’s blaming himself for her death and she’s telling him its not his fault. Apparently the past “Manatsu” was an noble of the Heian era. His name was Fujiwara Manatsu, and his name in this world is Serigano Manatsu. And the one he loved was Princess Rin or Akane Rin in her world. It was their appearance 1,000 years ago. Over time they transmigrated over and over again and each time they were reborn they were attracted to each other and fell in love. However no matter how many times they’re reborn they are destined to never be together. Rin doesn’t understand it well and Baku says its something Manatsu needs to
overcome. He tells her he’ll show her the fate they’ve repeated over and over. She asks why he’s showing her this and he tells her she has the right since she’s going to die anyway. When she and Manatsu’s souls are connected, death separates them without fail. And now that they are both in love and fates have tied together, fate will begin to repeat itself. She is fated to die without waking from this dream.

It switches to Manatsu whom has Rin in his arms and takes her to Gin’s place. Everyone is worried and he has her taken up to her room where Gin asks what happened. Manatsu mentions she’s died many times like this already that it may be happening again. Gin tells him not be so pessimistic since he’s sure Rin will wake up. Gin goes to get him a drink and Manatsu stays watching Rin.

It shows Rin again in the white, dream-like space again. Baku says he’ll explain how her fate came to be. Rin asks if she’ll die afterwords and Baku doesn’t answer.

Manatsu and everyone is still waiting for Rin to wake up. She’s already been asleep for a week and Uta then brings Kami-sama to take a look at Rin. Kami-sama then says he can feel signs of an Ayakashi. He tells them its the power of a Ayakashi named Baku. The personal caught in the spell of Baku have their dreams eaten while they keep them asleep. It drains their energy and before long they weaken and die. Unfortunately there’s nothing he can do as long as Baku is the one who cast it. So they’d have to capture him themselves. Manatsu mentions he noticed the Ayakashi before and tried to ignore it since he always knew of how he’d robbed things precious to him. He then blames himself for Rin’s condition since he did not face Baku properly. Kami-sama tells him not to blame himself since it won’t change anything. He has to take actions for himself and not run away this time. He’ll try and find Baku in the meantime.

Later Manatsu is still in Rin’s room and holding her hand. He knows this is his fate since everytime he has been reborn he had lost her. Gin asks him to explain to him the situation of their fate. He does and he’s surprised to hear such a thing. He know of him when he first met Manatsu but then Manatsu didn’t remember him as his self then. Manatsu wonders if there was something he did that was terrible in his past lives but Gin doesn’t believe thats true since he’s always been a kind person no matter how many emotions he may feel. Gin tells him he should oppose his fate, rather than feel sad about it. But Manatsu is not sure how to oppose and face such a terrible fate. Gin then leaves to check on Suzuri. Manatsu calls himself weak for always running away due to his fear of losing Rin. And he knows he can’t run away forever. He wants to smile with her, tell her stories, and spend time with her. So he’ll oppose this fate of his. He’s scared but he wants her to watch him. He then kisses her forehead and leaves to look for Baku.

Back to Rin, there’s times where its a young lady and a servant of the Taisho era. Or a Princess and samurai in the Edo period. There were many times she and Manatsu were reborn. But every time Manatsu witnesses Rin die. Baku has shown Rin many of these repeating cycles. He then says her body is reaching the end so he’ll now show her the
very last dream. The start of it all.

image

Soon Rin was standing in a very luxurious mansion. Nobody could see her but she was watching the scenes unfold. Manatsu was a Onmyoji
who served the Imperial Court. He held firm trust with the emperor and had a senior position even though he was already young. Not only that, he’s a man of refined taste not only in the capital but also as a famous poet. He was of the Heian era. Soon while waiting under the Cherry Blossom trees a young girl who resembles Rin appears. He introduces himself to the Princess as Fujiwara Manatsu. An Onmyouji who serves the Imperial Court. Apparently she had lost her mother whom was her only blood relation to her so he felt she must’ve been lonely. He tells her he hopes she can live in his home happily. He’s glad he could now hang a younger sister and wishes her the best. He treated her as a younger sister while writing song together in their freetime. There were days where Manatsu was really busy so he wasn’t able to play with Princess Rin much so he always gave her a flower as an apology. Soon she began to grow day by day the Princess who was once a young girl grown up to be a beautiful pure woman. Her talents that were taught by Manatsu were soon being recognized and Rin had just become the age suitable for marriage. She had many marriage proposals and Rin rejected all of them. Soon the Emperor hears the rumors of Princess Rin and wishes for
her to become his mistress. Princess Rin cried and protested but the emperor’s word is absolute and there was no way to act against it. Manatsu also tries to persuade her as well. He serves the emperor and cannot defy his words. He believes she’d be happy living in such luxiuary but she disagrees saying she’d rather be by Manatsu’s side and that she’s always loved him. He hugs her then pushes her away saying this is his answer. He tells her he can’t make her his wife and she says she knows. And the day before she marries the emperor she spends her last day with Manatsu. He tells her he loves her but the world won’t allow their love and no one can defy the emperor. Rin knows they can’t be together but no matter how far apart they are they’ll always have their connected thoughts for each other. He despairs over leaving her but knows nothing can be done. The next morning before she leaves his mansion
he gives her a final flower.

Once Rin is gone Manatsu despairs over it but goes back to his work as a Onmyouji. He then encounters a young Gitsune at a Shrine thats injured and helps it. The little Gitsune starts to always visit the Shrine when Manatsu visits. He decides to name it Gin. So whenever he had free time he’d visit it and play with it.

Several years pass and the Princess Rin who was living in the court falls ill. She’s then sent back to Fujiwara Manatsu’s mansion to recieve medical treatment. She’s happy to see him again but their reuinion isn’t a happy one. Apparently she’s under a terrible curse and her sickness only worsens as days go by. But even so they spend each day together happily. Princess Rin gets weaker each day and soon can barely stand. As weak as she is she always insist to watch the flowers bloom with Manatsu. He then holds her in his arms and she tells him not to look so sad since she’s happy. She hopes she can be with him in the next world to come. He despairs and she dies in his arms.

image

Time passes and Manatsu gives Gin a stone that was passed down to him generation to generation. He gives it to him to apply as a collar. He hopes that with that he’ll be able to protect whoever is precious to him. He tells Gin goodbye and he has no meaning left to stay in this world. He’ll go to a place where he can see her again. He then goes to a mountain where a distant village resides and jumps into a dark river and kills himself. He hopes he can find Rin again and they can be happy together.

The current Rin finds herself crying after seeing this and begs Baku to let her wake up. The other Rin or “Princess Rin” then tells her not to cry since she will help her. She beared a grudge against her fate and still grieved over it. She was cursed for it and couldn’t be saved all this time. But now the current Rin had saved her. She was happy in just being able to meet him so she didn’t realize her fate was cursed. She then asks the current Rin for her to help Manatsu who keeps himself under a curse without realizing it. She wants her to undo the spell he’s under so she’ll lend her some power to do so. Rin says she will and reaches for the other Rin’s hand. She then wakes up suddenly and is in her room.

Rin goes downstairs and Gin and Suzuri are relieved to see she’s okay. She then rushes outside to go find Manatsu and finds him by the Cherry Blossom tree. Baku wonders how she broke out of the dream and Rin says the “her” from 1,000 years lent her power. Manatsu calls out to Rin and she runs over to him. Baku then tries to attack Rin but Manatsu blocks him taking the blow. Rin asks why he’s doing this and he tells them he’s the person who decides their fate and this is the fate that has been chosen for them. It cannot be changed. Manatsu tells him he won’t allow him to toy with their fates any longer. He says he’s tried of the same repeating fate of separation and that he’ll change it. He’d given up so many times 1,000’s of years ago. He lost her so many times and regretted it each time. He’s had enough of losing his precious person and won’t give up anymore. He won’t accept this fate and he’ll change it no
matter what. He’ll never give up as long as he can do so. He’ll definitely keep her this time. He tells Rin to stay behind her and Baku tells him its impossible but he says you don’t know until you try. Manatsu attempts to protect Rin but she comes out from behind saying she’ll help him too. Its different from 1,000 years ago and she won’t allow him to be alone anymore. She will face this fate with him. They hold hands promising they won’t run away from their fate this time. They steady themselves and stare straight at Baku. Its then a memory flashed to Rin.

image

The memories of the past Manatsu’s and Rin’s being separated from each other by fate. It then shows the past Manatsu before he had committed suicide. He encounter Baku asking why he had cursed himself so. He told him that he has nothing left to live for. Baku then says he’ll do what he likes in that case and takes his soul. Manatsu tells him to do so and do what he likes to it. Baku then agrees and says he’ll do so and keep his soul through all eternity. He had cursed himself so much that he had taken form of that Ayakashi, Baku. He had drowned himself and continued that fate. And that Ayakashi was born from the tragedy. Rin then faces Baku and hugs him and tells him he doesn’t need to suffer through it anymore since she was happy. She was happy to meet the “him” from back then. She tells him to not curse himself anymore. Baku then transforms back into the “Fujiwara Manatsu.” Baku’s true self was the Manatsu from 1,000 years ago. He had regretted her death so much and despaired over it so he committed suicide. Over time he’d taken shape into the Ayakashi Baku. Manatsu says he would’ve noticed sooner but he’d had always run away and never had the courage to face his feelings. He then says goodbye to Fujiwara Manatsu as he disappears together with Princess Rin who are finally together again.

image

Rin and Manatsu then embrace each other and Rin starts crying saying she always wants to be with him regardless of their past. He tells her he feels the same way and he’s always wanted to tell her his true feelings. He tells her he loves her and he’ll protect her all his life. She says she loves him too. Manatsu says no matter how many times you’re reborn you can’t recall memories at first. But as time passes you can feel similar memories and soon recall it all too soon. Apparently it was always the same with him. But even when he couldn’t be with her he had always been watching her no matter how many lifetimes had passed. Rin tells him its not only him that’ll be protecting him but her too. Manatsu then starts crying and they hug again. She says she wouldn’t mind touching him more either. She then tells him to close his eyes and she kisses him.

image

Some time later Rin and Manatsu are dating. Rin tells Manatsu not to over work himself but Manatsu says its fine as long as he can make deliveries while visiting Gin and the rest of them. He then says he wants to spend plenty of time with Rin too. He’s relieved since she’s still a high school student while he’s a working adult. Rin says age doesn’t matter and he agrees since he’s watched over her for generations already anyway. And she’s the best Rin there is so far. They then go home to eat dinner with Gin and everyone.

BEST END

After removing that curse, Manatsu and Rin are still lovers. Several days later Manatsu visits Rin in the morning to get her up and ready for breakfast. Then one day Rin gets sick and Manatsu feeds her rice porridge and nurses her to good health. While she’s resting she has a strange dream and wakes up with Manatsu sleeping next to her.
Apparently they had the same dream in which they were happy for a great miracle happening. He then tells her that he promises that they’ll be together forever in the future ahead. They kiss and give a nice firm hug~

March 9th. Rin and Manatsu go to visit the Cherry Blossom tree. Manatsu gets distracted and looks up at the tree. Rin asks whats wrong but he says its nothing. They hold each other’s hand but Rin feels uneasy. She was holding hands with Manatsu but suddenly he’s not there.

[[I should clarify that this scene remains a mystery until you complete Asagi’s route then replay his best end]]

GOOD END

Manatsu and Rin are lovers and spend as much times as they can with each other as possible since she’s still a high school student. While waiting for Manatsu to come see her after school she sees him talking to a woman and gets a bit jealous. She kinda shows it off a bit but then he
gives her a flower saying he’s sorry for being late. She’s cheered up right away after that. She then takes his hand and they walk home together. They then start talking about how day by day they’ll continue to like each other more or something. He then hugs her in the middle of the road. She’s all embarrassed and then he whispers in her ear that he loves her.

Once they get home Manatsu has dinner with Gin and everyone. He then starts fawning over Suzuri and and wonders about having a family of his own with Rin.

BAD END

Rin is unable to wake up and tells Baku she wants him to rid her of flame of life. So basically eradicate her soul so she can never be reborn again. She wants to make sure that Manatsu will never suffer this fate again.
Baku then tells this to Manatsu and he freaks out saying there’s no way it could be true but it is and then he blames himself from running away. Manatsu then asks Baku to do the same to him so that his flame of life will be extinguished as well. He does so and dies with Gin and the rest witnessing his death.

Final Thoughts:

I’m not going to lie, I personally didn’t enjoy this route nearly as much as I did Yomi’s. I didn’t even write as much, cause I don’t feel like there was as much to write to be honest. His route was much more focused on past events rather than the current. I personally would have rather to see more development among the two in the present rather than the past. But I suppose it was inevitable since their whole “fate” ordeal. Its an interesting concept but I wasn’t all over it. Plus the CGs were a bit lacking. In general they’re aren’t many CGs per character but two of them were flashback CGs and it kind of felt like a waste. Not to mention I can’t get the last one until I do Asagi’s route. A bit annoying with the open ended endings until you complete Asagi but whatever.

I guess it didn’t help much that I wasn’t that interested in Manatsu character that much. He seems like your typical nice gentle guy but he felt to generic for me. Plus at the beginning I had initially thought she just met him when she was younger not as a “past” self. I certainly wasn’t expecting that. I guess it was different from the norm so it wasn’t all that bad. I guess I just felt it needed more though. Or maybe I would’ve preferred to see their relationship in a different way. I dunno.
