You die, and wake up in another world as a royal sorceress named Ciel Rozenbleu. The catch? You remember your life—not hers.
As an RPG-visual novel hybrid, our game offers the best of both worlds — the rich storytelling and art of a visual novel, and the ability to interact with your environment and the people around you like in RPG games. You can play the demo on itch.io or on steam.
Game Overview
After a deadly accident, you wake up in the unfamiliar land of Desideria, assuming the equally unfamiliar identity of Ciel Rozenbleu - a sorceress in the royal military.
It’s your life now. A new path will be carved by your hands.
The world of Stand by Me is set in the Una Continent which is made up of three countries:
- Desideria, a powerful empire where magic reigns supreme. Their current goal is to conquer Idris and unite the continent of Una.
- Cantara, a Desiderian colony that lacks magical expertise but specialises in technology.
- Idris, a hunter-gatherer civilisation that possesses a powerful form of magic that manipulates one's life force—Priroda.
Trapped in a unfamiliar world and with no way to get home, you stumble about trying to play the part of Ciel Rozenbleu.
But you’re not Ciel. You’re a modern misfit in this archaic fantasy world, and you have your own opinions.
Will you stand firm in your beliefs, or will you rethink your allegiances?
Who will you choose to stand by?
Characters

Ciel Rozenbleu – Our MC is an isekai protagonist who lived as a normal college student (a relatable one too LOL esp w/ the useless groupmates) that was hit by a truck and then reincarnated into Ciel Rozenbleu. While Ciel was seemingly a very serious, dedicated person — the MC is a lot less so and super clueless about her surroundings so it was interesting to see her interactions with everyone. First off, I love the MC’s design — it’s so cute and I love the sky blue hair. The best part of isekai stories is that the MC is so aware of her surroundings and has a lot more modern thoughts so its fun to see (like her giving an opinion and thinking if it was too woke for one of the characters; that made me laugh lol). We got a piece of seeing how the MC slowly adapts into this world and I’m really interested to see where it goes; especially since it’s clear she’ll eventually learn how to hone her magic and use it just like the original Ciel did.

Altair – This character is very shrouded in mystery. He has a slyness to him and reminds me of the Haitaka from Psychedelica of the Ashen Hawk — a character that obviously knows a lot but kind of just hangs around with the heroine and gives their witty / vague input lol. I like his banter with the MC and I’m interested to see how a route with him would pan out — especially since he’s aware of the MC’s circumstance and not being from the world she came to.

Rigel – This is the MC’s butler who is clearly very loyal to her and understanding. He’s the one who the MC ends up confiding in when it comes to learning more about her world (after finding out about her “amnesia”) and I really love his character so far. He kind of reminds me of a more ossan Jakob from Fire Emblem. I’m looking forward to learning more about him though — I feel like there’s more about him that meets the eye (also literally cuz he has an eyepatch LMAO).

Kiel Reinhardt – When I first saw this character I could immediately tell he’s was going to be one of those sassy tsun types and I don’t think I was wrong. He definitely reminds me of Takeru from Collar x Malice — super bitchy at first but I know he’s gotta warm up to you lol. Although knowing me, I have a type and he’d probably be my favorite so far. Even though he acts like he doesn’t care, he still does try to help the MC when they’re on their mission together so obviously he’s being a tsundere lol. I feel like if he knew the MC’s circumstance he’d actually be a lot more understanding than he lets on.

Caius Seren Veloris – Your typical royal prince-type — albeit he’s a king and a very young one at that. Not a whole lot of interactions with this guy — but I feel like he’s hiding secrets behind that smile LOL. The MC obviously finds him so handsome she’s speechless half the time — I think he knows what he’s doing when he ‘teases’ her but alas it’s hard to figure out what he’s thinking.

Dante Kyros – We didn’t interact with this character in the demo so I’m not sure what to expect from him yet. The Heretic was mentioned quite a few times in the demo though so obviously this is who they’re referring to. I can get a general idea of how this guy will be — most likely painted as a bad guy but is a very not-so bad guy (I’m guessing). I like his design though and I’m looking forward to learning more about him.

I saw that this game was inspired by Persona 3 Porable and an RPG maker game called Wadanohara (which my sister played so I know about it). I can definitely see those inspirations and I can really appreciate the P3P inspo because that game is what got me into otome games when I first played it back in 2010. The stat building part is a good addition and definitely reminds me a lot of Persona.
UI wise I think the game looks super cute and I love the way the screen menu / game menu look. To me the game was pretty straightforward and easy to navigate. I’ll admit I did get lost at one point when exploring the city (I could be wrong but I don’t recall being able to enter the library at first?) but I managed to complete it successfully. There’s a lot of cute quirks about this game such as the fact you change clothes when getting up, eating meals in the dinning room, and having choices through comic strip battle scenes.

I absolutely love the comic style fight scenes — its a fun way to do battles and make you think about what choices are the ‘correct’ ones. I did reload a few times to see the changes and it did change the outcome a few times. Overall, I think this is a super creative way to have battles — especially since they’re all drawn like interactive CGs.
I liked exploring the different maps too and they were really cutely designed and fun to navigate. I love the little details that goes into it all — especially the market area where you can go into the different shops.
Overall Thoughts
As a demo, I had a lot of fun playing this! I was super invested in the story and to be honest I started to forget I was playing a demo and was ready to get to the next chapter LOL. I like how the most recent isekai games I’ve played always have a different ‘twist’ to them which I really like! It makes them stand out. I don’t really play RPG maker games (my sister is really into them) so it was fun to try out a more otome-based one. I really like the art and designs of the characters. In addition to that, The sprite work is really well done and they all look super cute! I love seeing that this game is inspired by P3P because I really do adore that game a lot.
I’m already invested in the characters and I like the story so far. I love world-building and I like that we’re learning more about the world and the magic within it — so I’m glad we get to delve deeper into that. It reminds me a lot of Fire Emblem — especially how classes are determined by whether or not they can use magic. I definitely can see a lot of conflict coming out of that aspect — so I’m interested to see where it goes. As for the characters, I think I’m invested mostly in Rigel and Kiel; they’re definitely the ones that appealed to me the most. Although if I did see Dante in the story, I think I’d probably like him too LOL. I’ve played enough otome games to know Kiel just needs to warm up to the MC (cause right now he’s ice cold lol). The side characters have really cute designs too — I’m definitely looking forward to learning more about them because I already really like Mabel.
As I said before, I don’t play RPG games that often so it was refreshing to play an otome that has that aspect to it. It definitely makes it a lot more interactive since there’s a lot you can do (talk to NPCs, do quests, ect). Although one thing I’d like to see is voice acting; I’m not sure if RPG maker games normally have voice acting (probably not as common as regular VNs) but I’d love to see it if its something to be considered. To me adding VAs gives these types of games a fun and creative element (it also helps me put a voice to the characters LOL). There’s a lot to be invested in so far and I think the demo so far is really well made and caught my interest the moment I started it. I can’t say my full opinion on the characters / story yet since its just a demo, but I really am interested so far and I’m looking forward to seeing more of it.
