I finished Uta’s route a couple days ago. He has the same 3 usual EDs that are best, good, and bad.
Uta Inushima is Yomi’s twin brother and much like the opposite of him. He’s hyper, loud, and has a big mouth. Much the opposite of the quiet Rin. He loves to eat meat and hates vegetables. He’s doesn’t hate humans as much as Yomi does but instead finds himself struggling in between. He’s voiced by Shimono Hiro.
With December coming to an end, there’s a mochitsuki making rally thats held annually at their school. Rin and everyone are all outside of the school pounding some mochi together. Even Kami-sama and the other Ayakashi join in as well.
Winter break has arrived and everyone (except for a few) have plans. Some girls ask Uta out to go to the shrine together but he declines. Rin notices this and is somewhat curious about it. On their way home Uta asks what everyone is doing and they all seem pretty busy. Though Uta just plans to sit around and do nothing. Rin brings up that when he declined the girl’s offer that he said he was busy but he says he only said that because he felt going out with them would be a pain. Once they get home Gin greets them and asks to see their report cards they got for the end of the term. Rin and Yomi show off their’s but Uta is relunctant and pretends he doesn’t have it. Though Yomi forces him to take it out. His class participation and PE is 5 while the rest is 2 and 1. He says he can’t help it since he’s an Ayakashi but Gin tells him not to make excuses and that he should study better in the 3rd term.
Since the New Year is arriving, Rin and everyone are cleaning the house. Though Uta and Suzuri are mostly playing around and Gin scolds them for it. Rin tells them to stop and start cleaning and once he does he goes on saying things like “dustcloth bomb~!!” and playing around with Suzuri again. He accidently tips over a bucket in the process and has to clean it up while Rin helps with Gin in the kitchen. Once dinner is ready Uta’s eyepatch almost falls off which makes Rin curious about it. She hesitantly asks about it but he’s reluctant to answer so she apologizes and tells him to forget she said anything but then Yomi interrupts saying they’re about to leave. Apparently they’re going to the shrine together. Rin leaves to get ready and once she gets back she says she wants to prepare some food for Kami-sama so she does so while the others wait for her.
Soon they arrive by the shrine with lots of stalls open for New Years. Haginosuke greets them there though isn’t able to show them around since he’s busy with the shrine. Suou is also there but he’s getting drunk off of amazake so they agree not to bother calling out to him. Once Rin encounters Kami-sama she immediately gives him the food she made for him. He thanks her saying kids don’t have enough consideration these days. They just visit the shrine and throw money as an offering but don’t show enough consideration. Once Kami-sama leaves Rin goes to buy a cute charm from a shrine maiden. She’s about to tell Uta about it and she notices he’s not there. She frantically searches for someone and finally Uta appears. He asks where the heck she was since he was worried. She apologizes but he thought it was pretty expected of her to get lost in the first place. She apologizes again saying she doesn’t know the area as well as she thought since she hadn’t been there in 2 years. He asks her to come hang around together since everyone else is busy doing something and she agrees. He also holds her hand just in case she gets lost again.
While roaming around the stalls, Uta immediately goes for the meat ones and gets them both a meat kabob to eat. He then asks her what it is she wanted earlier and she goes back to where the shrine maiden was and shows him the cute charm she found. After returning back near the stalls, Rin starts to feel dizzy due to such a large crowd. Uta notices and he says they should go take a break. They sit down and drink Amazake together. Rin apologizes for the trouble but he says it wasn’t at all, except for the fact he had to look for her. Though Rin knows he has a true gentleness behind his words. He tells her to not worry about it and she thanks him. Suddenly he gets quiet and starts mentioning how it really is nice that the shrine is so lively. It used to be completely deserted and now its packed full of people. He mentions that humans always believed and worshiped God. The shinto shrine was always presented beautifully and treasured. Both him and Yomi’s job was always to watch over the village and protect the shrine for a long time. There was a time when humans stopped visiting the shrine. So as time passed he lost his faith in humans. And one day human kids threw rocks at them which is why they both have eye patches on each other’s eye. Yomi started to completely hate humans. But Yomi felt different, he knows he hates them but at the same time he can’t help but feel relieved to see them visit the shrine. It’s a very contradictory way of thinking for him. Rin thinks he does like humans though considering the way he gets along with everyone at school and at home. He says its just her imagination but she believes she noticed it for a long time. If he really hated humans he wouldn’t be so kind to them. He tells her not to say something so selfish when she doesn’t know anything. She apologizes and after some silence he apologizes too. He tells her not to get so upset since he doesn’t know what to do if she did. They then realized it’d just turned 12:00 so the New Year already happened. Uta asks Rin what she wished for and she tells him she wished to spend every day happily with everyone. Uta is surprised she’d wish for something like that but Rin says its very important to her. He then tells her that if its something like that he’ll make sure it comes true. Rin’s surprised to hear him say something so nice but Uta tells her to just be happy that he said that. She agrees and thanks him.

The next day they all enjoy a New Years meal together. During which Haginosuke appears requesting to come fly a kite together. (‘Tako’ can mean kite or octopus) so Suou thinks its different from a ‘tako’ he knows of since he can’t eat it but then Haginosuke has to tell him that its a kite you fly in the sky. Both Suou and Yomi aren’t interested at all so Haginosuke ends up only inviting Rin, Uta, and Suzuri.
Once outside, Uta is the one teaching Rin and Suzuri how to fly it properly. Once they’ll all flying it together, Suzuri grabs Rin’s clothes and mentions some other children that are also flying kites. Uta notices this and introduces Suzuri to the other children saying he’s an expert on kites so he’ll be their teacher. Suzuri then teaches the other kids how to fly a kite properly while praising him since he helped them out. Haginosuke and Rin are both surprised to see how sharp Uta was in realizing that.
Later, Haginosuke rushes home since he’s been out to long. Rin, Uta, and Suzuri do the same. Suzuri and Uta end up playing with each other a bit and Rin is lost in thought thinking about how Uta really is like a older brother figure to him. And she’d always relied on him for alot of stuff. Suzuri notices she’s making a face and asks if she’s okay. Uta says it’s probably because she sucked at flying a kite where she tells him he’s wrong and runs off with Suzuri to return ahead of him.
Once they get home Suzuri is telling Gin about what happened while he was flying a kite and it was a whole lot of fun. Yomi makes a remark saying its stupid to play with other humans since nothing comes out of it. He leaves and Rin remembers what Uta told her about him and Yomi and starts feeling sad about it. Uta tells her not to worry about it, clearly knowing what she was thinking. He says its because he’s more like an animal though Rin retorts she’s not like that. He’s glad to see she’s reply like usual showing that he was indirectly tiring to cheer her up.
Soon the Winter break ends and the 3rd term of school began. While walking to school together, Uta started watching Uta since she started noticing things she hadn’t noticed about him before. Once back in class loads of people gather around Uta which makes Rin start thinking she feels lonely that Uta is being stolen from her. She’s really surprised and finds it strange that she’d think something like that. When she see’s other girls talking to him so happily she strangely feels somewhat lonely and helpless.
During lunch Rin, Uta, Yomi, Suou, and Haginosuke all gather with the intention to all eat lunch together. Though at the last second Rin is called out by a classmate named Yamori. She hands her a sweet saying she made too much and would be happy if she ate it. Rin is surprised to recieve something like that from her since she’d never spoken to her before, but accepts it anyway. Uta pokes her telling her to hurry up since he’s hungry, and she thanks Yamori while leaving. During lunch Rin opens up the sweet that Yamori gave her and its apparently its handmade cookies. They wonder who she got it from and she said a student named Yamori gave it to her. Soon everyone ends up wanting to try some and it’s all gone in a flash leaving a disappointed Rin.
After lunch Rin goes to see Yamori and thanks her for the cookies. She said they were really delicious and Uta and the others had some too agreeing that it was really good. Yamori is surprised to hear that Uta ate some too and Rin says he said he thought it was really delicious. Yamori is really pleased to hear so and Rin thanks her again. Just as she’s about to leave, Yamori tells Rin that its a hobby of hers to make sweets. So she’d be happy to give her sweets again. Rin gladly accepts her offer.
The next day, Yamori gives Rin some of her pound cake that she made and she eats it with everyone during lunch. She surprised at how delicious it is and when lunch ends she looks for Yamori again. She tells her it was really delicious but wonders if its okay that she gets some of her sweets every day. Yamori tells her not to worry about it since she likes making it. She hopes its not too much trouble and Rin says it isn’t since Uta and the others really enjoy it too. Yamori is relieved and says she didn’t want to force it on her or make her uneasy. She then asks if the rumor she heard of her living with Uta was true and Rin hesitantly says it is. She wonders if she anxious to live with Uta since she make come to fall in love with him and Rin freaks out saying there’s no way that’d happen since there’s also Gin and Suzuri who are there too. She tells Yamori she’s never considered liking them in that way. Yamori apologizes for saying that and says she really is pretty. Rin gets embarrassed for a moment and Uta calls out to her wondering why she’s making such an ugly face. There Uta encounters Yamori and he tells her cake was really good and thanks her. Yamori’s blushes and thanks him for eating it. Rin starts to feel jealous due to the fact Yamori looks so pretty when she smiles and thinks she’s nothing compared to her. Uta smiled at her and thanked her but when he talked to Rin he only called her ugly. She doesn’t understand why she’s feeling this way but only sighs telling herself nothing will come out of it by thinking so hard about it.
The next following days Yamori made all sorts of sweets for Rin to bring with her during lunch. Things like cheesecake, donuts, and today a chocolate muffin. During lunch Yomi suddenly asks Rin why Yamori is giving all of these sweets to her in the first place since she must have other friends as well. Rin agrees that he does have a point but isn’t really sure to as exactly why she is. Haginosuke thinks she probably wants to get closer to Rin but Uta doesn’t think much of it and thinks she should just be thankful for it. He then makes a remark asking when she’ll learn to show a feminine side like Yamori. Rin watches him as he’s happily eating Yamori’s sweet and gets pissed after hearing that and slaps his hand away when he tries to get another bite of her sweet. She says that the rest is her share and he tells her to hurry up and eat it then. Rin then starts considering a way to return the favor for Yamori’s kindness.
After school Rin tells Uta and Yomi to go on ahead without her while she leaves to the bookstore to find a recipe book so she can bake a sweet for Yamori. So the following Sunday, Rin decides that she’ll bake cupcakes for Yamori. Unfortunately, her first cupcakes don’t turn out very well and soon Gin notices Rin making cupcakes and offers to help her. She appreciates him wanting to help but declines saying she wants this to be something she makes herself. Gin complies but gives her a few tips in return before leaving. With Gin’s tips, Rin is finally able to manage some delicious cupcakes. Uta, Yomi, and Suzuri come down stairs noticing she made some cupcakes and Rin offers for them to try some. Thankfully they’re really tasty and Uta thinks Yamori will be really pleased with them since they’re really good.
The next day Rin brought her cupcakes to school but was pretty nervous to give them to Yamori. She planned to give them to Yamori during lunch but unfortunately the teacher asked her to bring the attendance to the faculty office. When she returned she noticed Yamori wasn’t in her usual spot she ate lunch at so she went to go look for her. In the hallway she found Uta and Yamori next to each other with Yamori giving Uta wrapped up food. She noticed he was happily smiling so after feeling uneasy about it, Rin left to the unused classroom her and the others usually ate lunch at. Rin encounters everyone else who notices Uta isn’t there. Soon he appears and says he was late because Yamori handed him sweets since Rin wasn’t there. Rin remembers how happy she looked when she gave it to Uta so she assumes she didn’t want to give it to her, but Uta instead. When they undo the wrapping apparently Yamori had made cupcakes. Rin starts to feel jealous since hers look much better than the ones she made. Uta then asks what happened with the ones she made for Yamori and Rin says she forgot after the business had to take of in class. Uta suggests she just give it to her now but Rin doesn’t want to since she’s probably already eating lunch right now anyway. Uta insists she that goes now and tries to take the cupcake from her but Rin yells at him to stop and slaps his hand away. He gets pissed and then things start getting awkward between them.
Rin knows it was her fault for snapping at him, but she’s not sure how to apologize. While heaving a sigh during class Yamori notices her and tells her she handed her sweet through Uta today. She asked how it was but Rin tells her she didn’t eat with Uta today but he ate it and was very pleased with it. She notices she looks really happy and then asks Yamori if she loves Uta. Yamori is surprised but tells her its true and she does. She wanted an opprotunity to get to know him better so thought she’d be able to if she was more close with Rin. But she honestly did want to become closer with Rin as well. She’s really happy she was able to directly hand Uta her sweet today and thanks Rin for her help. Once she leaves Rin starts to feel sad knowing her true purpose for talking to her was only to get close to Uta. Soon Uta arrives and notices she was talking to Yamori. He asks if she gave her the cupcake yet and Rin says she hasn’t. Uta says she went through the trouble in the first place so it should be fine if she does. Rin says she doesn’t want to give her something she made when Yamori’s is already far better than hers. He tells her something like that doesn’t matter and its about the feelings you put into it. Rin gets mad at him and tells him he doesn’t get it stop saying selfish things when he has nothing to do with it. He says he was only worried since she went through the trouble and Rin storms out of the classroom saying she’s had enough.
Rin runs and runs until she reaches the brook in the mountain. She feels pissed and overwhelmed with feelings and is about to throw the cupcake she made onto the brook. But before she can, Kei calls out to her and tells her not to throw it away. He says he’ll take it instead since it smells really good and she gives it to him. He eats it and thinks its really good so he offers for her to eat with him but she says she doesn’t want to. He notices she looks sad and asks if she wants to talk about it. Rin begins telling Kei of how there’s a student in her class named “Yamori” who baked a sweet for her everyday. She thought she was able to become great friends with her. So she baked Yamori cupcakes in return. Though her true reason for doing it in the first place was because she wanted to get close to Uta. She hates that since Uta is already so popular in school and she thought was able to become close with Yamori. Uta doesn’t realize it, but just by looking at her face its obvious how much Yamori loves Uta. She can actually understand why she loves him. He’s actually a very gentle person. He acts like he hates humans but through his generosity she can tell he honestly likes them. So she doesn’t think its all that surprising that Yamori loves him. She knows that but she hates it. She doesn’t want Uta to be taken away from him. She hates seeing him getting so along with others and felt she was the only one who was close to him since they’re like family. She thinks its awful she’d feel this way and hates herself for it. She feels at this rate Uta will leave her sight and she doesn’t know what to do. Kei comforts her as she cries, telling her not to hate herself since she is a really kind person. Once she stops crying he says that based on this story, she must really be in love with Uta. She must feel that way because she wants Uta for herself. Rin says so in a panic that there’s no way that could be true since he’s rude, violent, and mean. Kei doesn’t think thats the case though since she already pointed out she can understand why someone would fall in love with him due to his kindness. Rin thinks about her feelings and tells Kei he’s pretty sharp. But he says its just cause she’s easy to understand. Before she knew it, she had come to love Uta. Rin doesn’t want to reveal to Uta about how she feels about it, but Kei thinks it’d be best to be honest with him. Rin knows she just fought with Uta and needs to find a chance to reconcile with him. Kei pats her on the head and says he knows she can do it since its her. She thanks him and leaves to return home, determined to go apologize to Uta.
Once Rin gets home she immediately asks Gin where he is. Apparently he shut himself in his room the entire time. Rin leaves upstairs and knocks on his door asking to talk. He doesn’t answer but Yomi comes out asking what she’s doing and she says its nothing and goes back to her room. He doesn’t come out from his room for dinner either. She sits by the table until midnight waiting for Uta to come out of his room. She hears someone coming downstairs and apparently its Uta. He asks what she’s doing and she says she heated up his dinner for him. Once he sits down there’s a huge awkward silence. Breaking the silence, Rin apologizes saying she was the one who was in the wrong. She got mad for no reason and knew he was just concerned. She had a hard time conveying this to him since its hard for her to speak her true feelings. And she also doesn’t like fighting with him. He then asks her to tell him why she was mad in the first place. She’s hesitant at first but says she does want to tell him why. She’s just bad at explaining things, and she’s afraid Uta will get mad if she tells him the reason. He tells her he won’t get mad and he just wants to hear her part of the story properly. He’ll listen to whatever she has to say so she should just let out her feelings since even he can feel uneasy about it. She then sits down next to Uta and decides to tell him her feelings. She says she’s been jealous of how he’s always been able to get along with everyone. She felt uneasy because she thought Uta would be separated from her. He interrupts her wondering why she’d think that but then apologizes telling her to continue her talk. She thanks him and says she felt she’d always been relying on him a lot ever since she came to the village. She wanted to express her gratitude she felt for him for helping her when she shut herself out from the world. But seeing him get along with everyone so fast, only made her more jealous. She felt lonely and took it out on him by lashing out at him. He responds thinking she’s exaggerating a bit. He never said he’d stop being around her and though he may dislike humans, he enjoys hanging out at school with her the everyone else. He enjoys spending time with her and doesn’t want to part from her either. He tells her to not worry and that she won’t end up alone. She tells him she had no idea he felt that way and Uta says the same for her. She then says it’s important to convey your feelings properly and he agrees and then….
Rin: “Thank you for listening to what I had to say. I realized I really love that straightforwardness way about you.”
Uta: “Huh…? What…did you just say…?”
Rin: “Ah! I-I didn’t mean it in “that” sort of way!”
Uta: “I-I know that!”
Rin: “B-But your face is red…”
Uta: “Idiot! So is yours!”
Rin: “That’s because you said something weird…”
Uta: “You’re the one who said something weird!”
So they both blush in embarrassment and Gin comes downstairs wondering why its so loud. Rin apologzies and Uta said he came downstairs to have something to eat. He then shoves the rest of the food down his mouth and runs upstairs. Gin notices how red Rin looks and wonders if she’s sick but she panics and says she isn’t while hurrying back to her room.
The next day Rin meets with Yamori again. She tells her she appreciates her giving her sweets but she can’t accept them anymore. She knows they’re made for Uta so for that reason she can’t accept them now. She tells her that she’s in love with Uta as well. So if she wants Uta to have it she should give it to him directly. She apologizes but Yamori tells her not too. She’s the one who gave it to her in the first place and felt it was a terrible thing to do. She honestly really did want to get to know Rin better. She knows her actions must’ve hurt her and apologizes for it. She’s happy she could be honest with her feelings. She believes she’s no match for Rin and will support her with her feelings for Uta. Everyone then comes out of the classroom ready to eat lunch and Yamori leaves wishing Rin the best of luck. During lunch Rin doesn’t have much of an appetite and ends up staring at Uta instead. He notices and she apologizes while he blushes telling her to not look at him in the first place then. Everyone else notices they’re blushing like red beets but won’t speak a word about it.
So this continues at home and at school. She gets way too conscious about her feelings and can’t look at Yomi straight. Even he has trouble talking to her when they’re alone cause they end up blushing and stuttering when they see each other. One day Rin is sitting outside wondering what she should do about this situation. Uta then calls her trying to get her attention. Gin asked him to go get her for dinner. Once she’s about to go with him though she slips on some snow and Uta catches her. He tells her to be more careful and she says she’s fine and nervously asks him to let go since he’s already pretty close. Uta immediately blushes and separates from her.

A few days later Rin and Uta are still both awkward around each other and unfortunately end up avoiding each other because of it. Rin gets home earlier than Uta and finds Kami-sama there. He notices she looks pretty down so asks her to tell him what’s wrong. She decides to do so and tells him indirectly that she’s in love with Uta. And because of that she finds it harder to talk to him now. Though he knows immediately that must mean she’s in love with him and she blushes. He says he understands now and then asks her if she understand what it means for a human to come to love an Ayakashi. He tells her their lifespans are different and while a human will age, an Ayakashi will not. Once Rin becomes an old woman, Uta won’t change. And she’ll die before he does. Rin never considered this at all and isn’t able to answer. He tells her that he has a rough past with being mistreated by humans though he understand how gentle he can be despite his harsh demeanor. He doesn’t wish to make her feel threatened, but wants her to take what he said into consideration. You shouldn’t approach Ayakashi with half-hearted feelings. Both parties can end up hurt in the end. Soon Gin notices Rin is back and says he unintentionally heard them talking. He then tells her to talk with him about it while drinking tea together. Rin asks if Gin was scared since he knew his lover would die sooner than him and he says he was scared. He was scared but he knew he had to make the best of their time together because it was so limited. But he doesn’t regret it because he its thanks to her he was able to have Suzuri. Rin asks if she’s lonely and he says he is but she’s still in his heart. And he can always recall the memories they had together. Rin thanks him for telling her this and Gin suggests that they make a meat dish that Uta will enjoy for dinner so Rin can try and speak with him. Rin agrees and but notices he still hasn’t returned yet.
It then shows Uta standing by the cherry blossom tree clearly annoyed with himself. Yomi asks why he’s by himself sighing so excessively. Uta doesn’t want to talk to him about it but then Yomi brings up Rin saying she’d be worried about him. He noticed they’ve both been acting strange around each other lately. Uta says its unrelated to him but then Yomi asks him if he loves Rin. Uta flips out and Yomi tells him he should already know but having that sort of relationship with a human is impossible. He tells him that humans die way too quickly and it isn’t possible to live together. Plus they’re lying, selfish, and foul beings. He shouldn’t let a human brandish a guardian dog like himself. Uta says Rin isn’t like other humans so he doesn’t want to hear him talking badly about her. Yomi sighs saying he ought to heed his advice goes on ahead to go back home. Once he leaves he yells to himself that he knows how it is. Even if Uta hadn’t said anything he’d already been thinking about it. He knows that since she’s a human they wouldn’t be able to always be together yet it’s really painful for him. While standing there in frustration a voice calls out saying “I’ve found you”. Uta notices it and the scene fades out.
Back at the shop Yomi returns without Uta. Rin and Gin ask where Uta is but Yomi says he doesn’t know and goes back to his room. For now they decide to make dinner while waiting for him to return. Unfortunately, it gets late and Uta still hasn’t returned home yet. Since Rin was worried she decided to go wait outside until he came back. Though once she stepped outside her bell started to ring which indictated that he must be in danger. She runs in to tell Gin and the others. Gin thinks they should wait to get Kami-sama first but Rin runs outside saying she’s going to go look for him. Gin tells Yomi to go after her and he does so. He yells at Rin not to go off by herself and it’d be much quicker if he lead her there. He grabs her hand and they run off following the sound of the bell which should lead them to where Uta is. They soon reach to a halt and Yomi tells Rin to be quiet and hide. Apparently they’ve arrived at a demon’s den. Rin is anxious to leave to find Uta, but Yomi tells her to stay put. He tells her he’ll act as a decoy while she hurries away to go follow the sound of the bell. Rin is worried about him and tells him to run away if it becomes too dangerous. He then tells her not to worry about what happens to him, its Uta she’s in love with. Rin calls him an idiot saying there’s no way thats the case. Yomi is her important friend and family. There’s no way she’d ever think that. Yomi sighs thinking this is why he hates humans since they push their feelings on him. But in the end he can’t bring himself despise them like he used too. He then promises to Rin he’ll make it out safetly. Yomi tells her to go and to not look back. She runs off towards the sound of the bell and doesn’t turn back. While running through the forest she trips and loses the bell.
She then hears the sound of loud footsteps and the demon approaches her claiming he’s going to eat her after beating up that dog. Rin’s not sure if he means Uta or Yomi but runs off a cliff trying to escape.
Once Rin figures out her surroundings, she decides to look for Uta without the sound of the bell. Though when thinking that she immediately hears a faint tinkling of a bell and finds a body on the ground. There she spots Uta and immediately runs to him noticing he’s all beaten up. She hears the sound of the demon’s footsteps and drags Uta’s body to hide themselves near a bush. Uta wakes up wondering why she’s here but Rin starts sobbing saying she’s glad he’s okay. She tells him she’d been looking for him this entire time since she found out he was in danger. She told him Yomi used himself as a decoy for her to get away to find him and lost the bell while running away. Uta says this is the second time she’s cried though Rin mentions it should be the first since back then he said he wasn’t looking. Anyway, Uta then touches Rin’s cheek noticing that she has some injuries from falling off the cliff. He gets really close and tells her to keep still for a bit. He then starts licking her wounds ((and I’m just laughing at how it sounds…)) and Rin gets all embarrassed where he just tells her to be quiet and not move. Apparently when he licks wounds ((Just like a doggy!!)) they recover more quickly. After a bit Rin’s injuries feel better and Uta apologizes that she got hurt looking for him. Rin says she’s fine and asked what happened with him. Apparently that demon ambushed Uta by the Cherry Blossom tree while he was completely off guard. It was the demon that Rin encountered when she first met Uta and Yomi. It didn’t look that powerful back then but it had been regaining its power by eating humans so it could take revenge on Uta. She asks if he’s really okay and he says he is since the pain left after he saw her again. Uta starts putting himself down saying he’s always been such half-hearted person. He could never fully hate humans but never fully like them either. He doesn’t think he fits in with Ayakashi or humans but Rin doesn’t think that’s true. She believes anyone can warm up to him just by talking to him. He tells her she may see it that way but he’s always been at a crossroads with humans and Ayakashi. He always felt a strong hatred towards humans but could never truly hate them. He feels he has a half-hearted way of living. Because of this he can’t even throw away his feelings he has for her. Rin is shocked to hear that and wonders what exactly he means by it. Though before she can ask, she’s immediately embraced by Uta.
He apologizes for getting her into this mess and he knows he’s weak. Rin tells him thats not true and she’s happy he’s safe so they should hurry and return home together. He separates from her and then looks at her seriously. He tells her to run towards the river so she’ll be able to return to the village by herself. Rin protests saying there’s no way she’s going to leave him alone when he’s already hurt. Uta is silent for a moment and then tells her she’s human. Rin doesn’t understand and he tells her to listen to him carefully. Since she’s a human she shouldn’t be involved in Ayakashi’s conflicts. He says she should end it all here and stop involving herself with Ayakashi by leaving the village and returning to where she came from. He tells her she needs to leave and never see him again. Rin refuses saying she doesn’t want to leave this village since she loves everyone in it. She treasures it and doesn’t want to lose it. She then tells Uta she really loves him so there’s no way she can leave him. Uta suddenly yells at her to shut up which takes Rin for surprise. He tells her when he’s with her he always gets a feeling of uncertainty. There are times he has feelings of wanting to always be next to her. But since she’s a human and he’s an Ayakashi he knows that’s an impossible wish. He doesn’t want to her to involve herself with him anymore. Since it was all halfway in the end she got hurt and doesn’t want to see that happen anymore. Rin still refuses but Uta tells her that its too dangerous around him. That demon would always hunt him down even if he ran away with her. So she should leave and never step foot in the village again. After some silence Rin finally complies. She says she’ll leave the village and never appear in front of him again. She then tells him to promise her one thing. And that’s to live on and make sure he doesn’t die here. Though he just sighs in silene and doesn’t say anything. Rin thanks him for everything and leaves.
Once Rin leaves Uta encounters the demon. He decides to face him head on without running away. The demon isn’t phased and doesn’t think he’ll be able to squat with the condition he’s in. But Uta tells him he doesn’t care what happens to him since he’s going to protect the one he loves no matter what. Uta charges at the demon but doesn’t do much. The demon hopes he puts up more of a fight and Uta says he will since he won’t lose. He constantly throws hits at the demon but to no avail. He gets knocked back onto the ground but says he won’t give up no matter what. The demon notices that his strive to fight is clearly that woman. Though Uta says he’ll make sure that he doesn’t hurt Rin so he’ll keep fighting. But soon his power runs out and he reaches his limit. Just then Rin appears telling him to stop. She tells the demon to kill her instead since her meat is much more delicious. He thinks she’s pitful for walking right in front of him but he’ll take her up on her offer and eat her first. Uta yells at Rin to not be an idiot and run away but Rin refuses. She thinks he’s the idiot for trying to sacrifice himself so she can escape. She doesn’t want to leave him alone. She already told Gin of this place and wants him to endure until then so they can return to the village together. While Rin tries to lure the demon away she’s caught by him and just as he’s about to eat her a light glows.
Uta appears with Rin in a dog lion-like appearance. Which is Uta’s true form. His powers are far superior to the demon and he kills him immediately. Uta then changes back to his human form. Rin says his form was really beautiful and cool looking. He weakly speaks to Rin asking if she fell in love again but she says she was already in love with him enough. After his long fight Uta then starts to lose consciousness. Soon Gin arrived and they were able to make it back to the village.
It’s been a week since those events. Rin and Yomi go to school like usual but Uta is still unconscious in bed. Rin is pretty worried about him and even Suzuri notices how sad Rin seems. So he draws her a picture of Uta. She laughs a bit and thanks him. Yomi then tells Rin she needs to get some sleep, since if she collapsed there’d be no point in Uta waking up. Rin then decides she’s going to go watch over Uta upstairs in his room and leaves. She then talks to Uta while he’s still asleep. She tells him to hurry and wake up since everyone is worried about him here and at school. She tells him she thinks he’s wrong when he said he’s a half-hearted person. She can see his kindness between humans and ayakashi alike. She wants to talk to him again so she’ll keep waiting for him to wake up. Soon Rin falls asleep and has a dream of the cherry blossom tree. The wind blows away all the cherry blossoms and she finds a person standing there. Then she hears Uta calling to hear and immediately wakes up.
Rin’s surprised to see him awake but he’s wondering why she felt asleep in here. She apologizes saying she dozed off and he says she’s got pretty ugly face right now. She looks really tired and has rings under her eyes. She says its all his fault that she looks that way since she’s anxiously been waiting an entire week for him to wake up. He apologizes for making her worry so much and thought he’d already died since he put forth so much power during that fight. Just as Rin suggests to tell everyone he’s woken up, Uta grabs her hand and tells her to stay with him a bit longer since he wants to speak with her. Uta then asks what happened that night when he fought the demon since he doesn’t remember anything after transforming. Rin explains to him how he transformed into his original form and helped her. Apparently Kami-sama was wondering how he was able to transform without the power of both his eyes. But Uta says its obviously because of her. Because he felt she was in danger, all the power that was drained from him came back in an instant. It was a power that should’ve been lost long ago. At first he’d only protected humans as a “duty” of his. But it was completely different that night. It was the first time he’d wanted to protect her of his own free will. His desire for her safety was what made him stronger and thanks her for it. She blushes and he says she’s completely red like an octopus. Rin then wonders about the words he spoke that night when he talked about wanting to be with her. She then asks him if she loves her and he’s just makes a blank face for a moment before asking why she’s bringing up that all of a sudden. She tells him she never heard him actually say it. She knows he said it more indirectly but she wants to hear it properly. Uta blushes and stutters saying it should be obvious at this point without him having to say it. But Rin says she said it multiple times already but she’d yet to hear him. Uta keeps making excuses and Rin says she’s had enough and asks whether or not he loves her not. He thinks she’s being forceful but she tells him to just say it already. Uta agrees but wants to hear her say it first. She nervously tells Uta she loves him and thanks him for protecting her. She always wants to be by his side. She knows she’ll die sooner than him but she still loves him and always wants to be with him. Uta tells her he feels the same way and wants to keep treasuring her. Since she was a human he wanted to throw away his feelings, but in the end he couldn’t do so. Her smile is prettier than anyone else’s and he wants to defend her on his own and not as a duty. Because he loves her. Rin starts crying and Uta wipes away her tears saying she’s been crying a lot lately. Rin tells him its his fault and Uta grips her hands and pulls her closer to him.
He says he’ll take responsibility for making her cry by promising to make her very happy from now on. He definitely won’t let her regret choosing him. While their having their moment, Uta’s stomach growls. Since he hasn’t eaten in over a weak clearly
he’s much more hungrier than usual. So they leave to go downstairs and have dinner together.

Several days afterwords Uta recovered and was able to spend life as normal. His and Rin’s time together naturally increased as well. Rin and Uta are walking to the shrine to visit Kami-sama for the first time in a while. Rin felt a bit nervous and Uta grabbed her hand saying she feel better now. Once they reach the shrine they call out to Kami-sama he wonders why they’re taking a leisurely stroll while holding hands and Uta says he’s not. The both of them have become lovers and hopes he’ll continue his favors with them from now on. Kami-sama realizes that they must’ve made their decision and wishes them both to be happy. Rin feels bad since Uta is a guardian of his shrine and feels she may be imposing but she doesn’t want to part from Uta. Kami-sama then smirks saying he’ll leave them alone and go to Gin’s shop to eat. Uta’s glad he was finally able to tell him since Kami-sama is a temporary God and in some cases Ayakashi and humans together is prohibited. Uta then tells Rin to sit down with him since he wants to give her something. He hands her the bell she’d lost and Rin is really glad to see he found it. He mentions how there’s two god’s in each bell that look out for each other and Rin believes thats what drew them closer together. But Uta says he loved her on his own will and not by the power of the bell or anything. They both blush and Rin says that the same goes for her. After some long silence since they both had no idea what to talk about. SO then…
Uta: “Would it be okay…If I…touched you?”
Rin: “What…?”
Rin: “W-WHAT?”
Uta: “Don’t raise your voice! It scared me!!”
Rin: “T-That’s because…I mean…touch what..?”
Uta: “What? ….Oh!”
Uta: “I didn’t mean in a perverted way or anything!!”
Rin asks if he means it and he asks if she wants him to or something. Obviously she denies it and he says he just wanted to touch something like her hair or cheek. After an awkward silence Uta tells her to forget it since he said something weird. Though Rin’s not really happy with that and Uta asks if its okay and she says its fine as long its her hair or cheek. He then says “Then, I’ll touch you now…” PFsh. He then touches her cheeks and notices they’re really hot. She says its obviously because of him. Soon cherry blossom petals begin to fall and Uta looks sad all of a sudden. He says its nothing and says he’s glad he can be with her right now since it all feels like a dream. Rin laughs saying this isn’t a dream but reality. It then shows Kami-sama hoping that Uta and Rin can happily spend their limited time together.

[[This is like right after the ending I think…]]
Rin is helping Uta out of bed since he’d been pretty weak after sleeping and not eating anything for so long. Just as they’re about to go downstairs to eat they hear voices outside of Uta’s room. Uta opens his door and spots Gin, Suzuri, and Yomi
standing outside his door. Apparently Gin and Suzuri went to get Uta and Rin to come downstairs and eat but heard them talking. Yomi only came upstairs cause they were taking too long. Rin told him they could of called them but Gin says he didn’t want to disturb them. Uta immediately blushes saying “T-There wasn’t really anything to interrupt!” Though Yomi mentions he was saying something along the lines of “I won’t let you regret choosing me”. Uta then gets tired of all the teasing and stomps downstairs with Suzuri to go eat. After he leaves Yomi asks if she really doesn’t regret choosing him since he’s an Ayakashi. She says she doesn’t. They might fight here and there but she really does enjoy being together with him. Gin says that Yomi is just worried about them and he blushes saying he’s got it all wrong and storms off. Rin thanks Gin again for helping her with his advice before. She’ll ensure that her and Uta make lots of happy memories together.
After eating dinner Uta and Rin go outside together. Rin feels today’s dinner was a lot better because Uta was there with her. After that Rin sneezes and Uta holds her closer so he can warm her up. Uta starts blushing cause Rin is so attached to him. Rin then out of the blue says she loves him and Uta freaks out wondering why she’s being all kind like right now. Uta then gives in and calls out her name to look at her and finds her asleep while standing up with him. He sighs and says her sleeping face is cute. He then ((licks her? like a puppy kiss?? idk)) gives her a kiss while she’s asleep.
BAD END
—
[[This starts off when Uta tells Rin to leave and he meets with the Demon; kinda short tbh]]
Uta starts fighting with the demon but clearly has a disadvantage. He asks what happened with Yomi and he says he stopped moving so he just left him where he was. The demon beats up Uta pretty badly so he goes for a last resort. In order to make sure he doesn’t find Rin he’ll commit a double suicide with him. He uses all the power he has left to grab the demon off a cliff with him. As he does so he hopes that if he’s reborn, he’ll be reborn as a human. Since that way he can live with her without any worries. Later it shows Kami-sama and Yomi talking with each other. Rin and Uta haven’t been seen and Yomi doesn’t want to believe Uta is gone. Kami-sama doesn’t think there’s any other explanation. Yomi then goes on a rant of how he hates humans and Uta wouldn’t have died in the first place if he hadn’t been protecting Rin.
After Thoughts:
I prefer Yomi but I really did like Uta’s character. He’s energetic and has a bit of a tsundere side to him. As for his route, I did enjoy it but I do feel it lacked a bit of development between him in Rin. Not that they weren’t a good couple but it felt Rin only fell in love with Uta because she was jealous of him. And there wasn’t much about “why” exactly Uta fell for her. I understand he wanted to protect her and blahblah, but their moments together weren’t exactly hinting that much at it. I mean she did notice his generosity here and there but that’s about it. I enjoyed his cute awkwardness though. I always like a blushy moment. Unfortunately, they didn’t have too many romantic moments and I’m still missing my two other CGs because I haven’t done Asagi’s route yet.
I always saw it as a lot of the UtaxRin, and YomixRin romances happened in the common route, they already had feelings at the start of their routes, more than the others anyway. Like I could see Rin falling for Uta over the whole events of the common route alone, pretty much.
