A review/summary of the Kenka Bancho Otome FD. Obviously takes place after the first game of everyone’s routes + an extra side story called Ultimate Fighting Summer Camp. All spoilers and such are under the cut.
After Love Story
Totomaru (CV: KENN) – After the first game, Hinako started dating Totomaru and went back to her girl’s school while Hikaru was forced to go back to Shishiku. Hinako still walks with Totomaru to school though and she tells him she’s happy she can walk with him since its lonely not being able to go to their school anymore. Totomaru tries to say her smile is cute and ends up punching himself in the face for embarrassingly saying it. So now that Hinako left Shishiku, there’s no longer a top and just a missing spot for the top while 2nd tiers still stand. Regardless, Hinako is still popular for being the original top which makes Totomaru jealous lol. When Hinako refers to herself as his girlfriend, Totomaru flips out and says he’s happy to have a strong and cute girlfriend. 😍
After school, Totomaru is about to go home with Konparu but he reminds him he should walk his girlfriend home lol. He also gets jelly when Totomaru calls her “Hinako” so tells him to call her by her last name instead. Either way, the giys there tease Totomaru calling him the boyfriend of Hinako. They find out she’s waiting outside for Totomaru and immediately go greet her and call her cute. They ask her to do a twirl in her school uniform and they all flip their shit due to her cuteness lmaooo. Totomaru then appears and scatters them away from his girlfriend 😃. Suddenly, Mirako appears!! And of course flirts with Hinako making Totomaru flip his lid again.
As Totomaru deals with the crowd, Hinako asks the others an idea for a birthday present for Totomaru. Kira suggests getting something that has sort of memories with it and this gives Hinako an idea. So Hinako and Totomaru walk to her place together as Totomaru rants about the boys getting too close to her. But Hinako says he’s cute when he gets jelly of her and so Totomaru screams about how cute she is lol. So when he goes to her place to pick up the notes he let her borrow, Sakaguchi and Hikaru flip the fuck out telling Totomaru to get his ass out. Once he leaves, Hikaru complains about how he can’t go back to Hinako’s girl school lmao. So that night, Hinako makes plans with Totomaru to go on a date with him on his birthday.
On Totomaru’s birthday, Hinako and Totomaru meet at her place to eat cake together. She manages to give him her present which is a pencase for his studies, but then Sakaguchi and Hikaru come home and yell at them (and Sakaguchi vowing to protect Hinako’s chasity lmao). So they leave and see a movie together like a normal date. Hinako then visits the shrine and buys a new amulet for her and Totomaru. He tells her how he wants to kiss her so out of embarrassment she tries to change subject. Finally, after Totomaru getting jelly of her kissing the amulet instead of him, she tells him she’ll kiss him. So before the end of their date they shyly kiss behind a tree.
One day, Hinako and Totomaru decide to study together at Totomaru’s place for their exams. Totomaru remembers about when they studied with Konparu too and gets jelly thinking about how Konparu arm pressed her. And cause of that he decides to hug Hinako since he can hug her all he wants now that they’re dating. Hinako then brings up studying and what she wants to do after she graduates. Totomaru suggests they work hard to attend the same university together which Hinako agrees to. So he hugs her for 5 more seconds then they go back to studying together.
So after the midterm, Hinako does surprisingly not very good. Totomaru apparently passed with flying colors which made Hinako slight depressed. They then discuss summer plans and Totomaru tells her he wants to go to the beach with her; especially to see her in her swimsuit. Hinako realizes she never bought a swimsuit and thinks about asking Hikaru for help in her finding one. Totomaru is all hell no and as embarrassed as he is, he wants to be the one to pick out her swimsuit. After school one day, Hinako is focused on studying while her friends decide to leave. This makes Hinako realize she’s having a hard time getting along with the girls at her school.
So one day Hinako decides to dress up as Hikaru (much to his delight) while Hikaru heads to her school as her to talk her friends. As Hinako talks with her Shishiku friends, some first years appear and say they’re gonna take the top spot that has been empty if no one else aims for it. The rest of them tell him though that they have no interest in the top position anymore and no one can over take its position. Apparently because they’re first years they don’t recognize Hikaru–or Hinako’s face so they don’t know who Onigashima Hikaru looks like.
After that Hinako goes with Totomaru and Konparu to buy a book about top fighters. She hasn’t been able to tell her friends in her girl’s school about her hobby so she wanted to buy the book in guy form. She ends up reading about it and explains how she loves fighting books and action movies. She starts to demonstrate her moves to Konparu and Totomaru starts to get jelly and weird about how Konparu is training with Hinako like a guy. In the end, Totomaru decides to join them as well and after sparing, Totomaru and Hinako return home together.
So for the next couple days Hinako strives harder to catch up with Totomaru in her studies in order to attend the same university as him. Unfortunately, she tells him she’ll have to stop hanging out more often since she’ll be focusing on her studies. Totomaru tells her he understands but feels a bit lonely about it. So in return, he wants a kiss from her if he’s able to make it in the top 100. Eventually Hinako is able to hang out with her friends more and she even reveals she’s dating someone.
Meanwhile, the first years are picking fights with Totomaru and Konparu by planting pranks on them. Totomaru’s assures them though that he’ll kick their ass during the Death Parade to protect the top position and still do well on his exams so he doesn’t have to study abroad. Meanwhile, Hinako is focusing on her studies with her exams so can’t meet Totomaru much. He tells her they need to make up for the times they can’t meet. So as days pass Totomaru and the rest of the 3nd years fight with the 1st years since they’re picking fights and claiming they’ll take the place of top.
One day, Hinako and her friends Momo and Anzu are followed by some of the first years from Shishiku. Totomaru has his exams the same day so they follow them up near the riverbank and decide to call Totomaru to use her as a hostage. That way, Totomaru will skip his exams to save Hinako and in not getting a high score, he’ll have to go study abroad like his father demanded. Hinako doesn’t know whether to fight or not because she’s afraid of what her friends may think. Nevertheless, Totomaru arrives as much to Hinako’s dismay. He tells her he couldn’t let those guess lay their hands of his girlfriend no matter what. He tells her that before they’re lovers, they’re bros so they gotta look out for each other.
After Totomaru’s long speech, Hinako realizes that their relationship revolves around kicking ass so she decides to help Totomaru. One if the 1st years try to hold her hostage and all the 2nd years laugh their ass off because they know Hinako is just gonna kick their ass lmao. After Hinako and Totomaru work together to kick their ass, Totomaru immediately leaves to take his test while everyone wishes him good luck. Meanwhile, the 2nd years explain that they were fighting the top, Hinako, aka Hikaru Onigashima. They’re shocked she’s a girl but explain that gender doesn’t matter and to be top you have to be recognized by your peers. They get them to apologize to Hinako and her friends.
After that, Totomaru meets with Hinako to tell her that his mock exam went great and he was able to answer all the questions with enough time. He believes it was thanks to her charm he managed. Hinako tells him about her bad test scores and says she wants to do her best to get on par with Totomaeu’s scores so she can go to university with him. Totomaru tells her she loves him and they both give each other a hug after he tells her he really missed seeing her. A few days later, Hinako sees her friends again and while she’s afraid they’ll avoid her, they tell her the way she fought with Totomaru was super cool.
So Hinako goes to Shishiku the day Totomaru gets his exam results back. She finds out from him that he got ranked 100 place in the 100 ranking so he just barely made it. The first years appear and apologize for what they did and congratulate Totomaru. Hinako is super relieved she starts crying so all the guys, including the first years, get dokidokis from seeing her cry lmao. After that, Hinako walks home with Totomaru. He tells her he wants to make new memories with her as lovers and Hinako agrees. He asks of she remembers her promise and she says she does and kisses him.
Konparu (CV: Shouta Aoi) – Konparu makes a remark on how Hinako calls everyone by their first names except hin (cause everyone calls him Konparu lmao) so she asks if she should call him Takayuki instead and Konparu gets super embarrassed by it. Unexpectedly, Totomaru appears and puts his arm around Hinako saying that she and Konparu have been super close lately (still not knowing about Hinako’s gender). Because of this, Konparu gets super jelly and tells him to quit putting his arm on her shoulder which he finally does. Soon Kira and Mirako appear and greet them, congradulating Konparu on his recovery and giving him a protein drink.
After that, Konparu and Hinako train on the roof like old times. They have an arm wrestle but Hinako is too self-conscious to pay attention lol. Hinako mentions how Konparu first found out she was a girl on Christmas and he gets embarrassed trying to pretend he forgot about it lmao. He mentions how her reaction then was so cute and he couldn’t handle it cause lord knows a guy cant be that cute!!! Hinako is surprised since that’s the first time he called her that but he says he’s always thought it just never said it out loud cause he’s too awkward around girls but still likes her and thinks she’s cute. Konparu gets so embarrassed by what he said that he turns around so she won’t have to look at him lmao. But Hinako wants to know what he’s thinking since he seemingly avoids her when things get awkward but he tells her she still needs to hide her identity so its better when they’re not always together. Even so, he’s really happy they were able to meet and go to school together.
A few days later, Konparu invites Hinako over to his place since his siblings want to see her. When she sees them they’re all excited to see her and call her oniichan like usual (since they still think she’s a boy). Apparently they were watching a love drama and thats where Konparu originally got the idea to kiss her on the rooftop when he confessed to her (in the first game lmao). They suggest Hinako going on a family picnic together with them and Hinako agrees. On Hinako’s way back, Konparu walks her home. She tells him she’s excited for the picnic since it’ll be their first time hanging out as lovers. Konparu checks to see if no one’s around and decides to hold her hand for ten seconds before letting go.
After that, Hinako convinces Sakaguchi to help make bento for Konparu. She practices until she’s able to make proper bentos for their picnic. Meanwhile, Konparu asks Hinako to train with him but ever since he found out she was a girl he hasn’t been able to spar with her without going easy on her since he’s afraid of her getting hurt. Hinako tries to reassure him she’s fine but its too awkward for him. As they walk home Hinako mentions she saw Konparu talking to woman even though he’s bad at talking with them. He mentions it was thanks to her he’s more easily able to speak to woman know. She also taught him that that it doesn’t matter if you’re a man or woman because she proved him wrong in strength.
Finally on the day of the picnic, Hinako prepares her bento for Konparu and his siblings. When they get to the park, his sibilings play for a while before eating her bento and praising her for it. After his siblings leave to play, Konparu thanks Hinako for making the lunch for him.He’s glad Totomaru didn’t get to eat it and shyly says he wanted her all to himself. He tells her that one of his siblings said she wanted to marry her so they could stay together forever. Just as he’s about to say if it was him, he blushes and stops himself. Hinako yawns, ruining the moment and apologizes. He tells her to take a nap but she says she’ll just rest her eyes.
Nevertheless, Hinako ends up falling asleep right next to Konparu. He decides that he wants to try and kiss her and just as he does, Hinako wakes up. They awkwardly stare at each other in silence with both faces red. When Konparu’s siblings return, they ask why their faces are so red lmao. The next day at school Konparu has been acting awkward since the day of the picnic. He jumps up when he accidently touches Hinako’s hand when turning the page in the textbook and Totomaru is all lol what. That night, Konparu ends up having a dream of him saying super cliche and romantic lines to Hinako. He wakes up screaming and leaves to take a run to cool himself off.
After that, Konparu continously distances himself away from Hinako. He ends up telling her he can’t train with her anymore and freaks out when she accidently touches him. Due to this, Totomaru forces Konparu and Hinako to have a meeting with everyone to discuss on ways for them to reconcile. Totomaru thinks they should duke it out (since fighting is the way to solve problems in this game lmao). But Konparu refuses to fight Hinako and is unwilling to give a reason why. Hinako ends up meeting Konparu’s siblings who tell her that recently Konparu has been depressed and been training alone for the upcoming match he has in July.
On the day of the Death Parade, all the first and second years are fighting but Hinako and Konparu are too depressed to participate. One of the first years ends up trying to ambush Hinako but Konparu helps her out. Before he can leave, Hinako tries to talk with him and even starts trying to literally kick some sense into him. But he refuses to fight back and Hinako ends up punching him before running off and calling him a baka, lmao. After that, Konparu goes on the roof to think and mother Mirako appears for his parently advice. He tells him to stop waiting around and take action especially for Hinako who’s obviously not in the wrong.
On the day of the sports festival, Hinako and Konparu are forcefully paired up due to Konparu pretending he hurt his leg. Thanks to that, Konparu and Hinako successfully kick some ass together. Unfortunately it doesn’t end well and while Hinako is on Totomaru’s shoulders, she ends up fainting and Totomaru isn’t able to catch her hand in time. Hinako wakes up to Houou who brought her to the nurse office. He got mad at Konparu for his hesitancy to grab Hinako’s hand. Nevertheless, he explains he can tell how close they are and encourages Hinako they’ll be able to reconcile. Meanwhile, Konparu tells Totomaru he intends to reconcile and apologize to Hinako after he wins the match he’s been practicing so hard for.
As time passes, Hinako doesn’t talk to Konparu and instead trains with Houou in secret. Konparu believes its his fault Hinako is avoiding him and merely blames himself for it but promises to make up for it after winning his match. On the day of Konparu’s match, Totomaru tells him he didn’t see Hinako in the audience. Just as they think she didn’t come, they find out Houou entered her as Konparu’s first opponent. She decided that she’d kick some sense into him and seriously fight him. When the match starts, Konparu is hesitant at first, but Hinako manages to convince him to give it his all so he doesn’t lose no matter who his opponent is. Finally, after declaring his love to her, Konparu puts forth all his strength to knock Hinako out the ring. Hinako congratulates him and he gives her a hug (while to others it looks like a bro hug lmaooo). In the end, Konparu wind the fight and gets one step closer to the championships.
After that, Hinako visits Konparu at his place. While his siblings are asleep, he goes on to apologize for everything especially her ending up having to enter the match to slap some sense into him. Hinako tells him its fine though since he wanted to keep his distance but Konparu tells her it’s the opposite. He actually really wanted to kiss her during golden week and every time they trained which is why he couldn’t train with her because he had to resist the URGE. He apologizes profusesly but Hinako is cool with it and even admits she put on lip balm in hopes of their picnic feeling like a date. So, Konparu tells her that they should go on a date the next day and looks forward to seeing Hinako in girl clothes for the first time.
The next day they go on their first date together and Hinako wears girl clothes for the first time. Because of this, they only managed to find each other after bumping into each other lmao. Konparu’s heart goes dokidoki when he sees Hinako and she even brings a homemade bento which makes Konparu ecstatic. While in the park, Konparu can’t endure his lurve no longer and finally holds Hinako close. He gives her lipbalm since she lost the other one she had. Konparu decides to apply it for her much to his embarrassment. Finally, he asks to kiss her but before she can answer he immediately locks lips with her and gets his whole seconds worth of kissing. He promises to stay by her side and never leave her.
Rintaro (CV: Hosoya Yoshimasa) – Hinako greets Rintaro and his brother Nozomi in the morning to walk to school together. Rintaro is already treating Hinako like a girl so she has to tell him to still pretend she’s a guy lol. Nozomi whines at them for taking forever so they finally walk to school as Rintaro tells Hinako good morning. As they walk to school Hinako mentions since Nozomi is going to Shishiku high he’ll be aiming for top of the first years. When they get to Shishiku, Hinako introduces Nozomi to everyone as Rintaro’s younger brother. While everyone gets acquainted with him, Rintaro and Hinako go on ahead. Apparently Nozomi has a sort of brother complex and mentions how Rintaro doesn’t notice him. So in order to get oniichan to look at him, he wants to become the top fighter like Hinako.
A few days later, Nozomi is trying to adjust to Shishiku but ends up getting chased by 2nd years. One day in the nurse’s office, Hinako meets with him. He’s still going through his rebellious teenage stage so when Mirako appears he teases him and easily figures out he’s Rintaro’s brother. Soon Rintaro arrives hearing Nozomi yelling and he leaves in a pubescent rage that oniichan treats him like a kid or something. After that, Hinako tells Rintaro she just cut her finger which is why she was in the nurse’s office. After school, Rintaro waits for Hinako to walk home with her. He tells her he’s uneasy about her having fun while talking to other guys in addition to being in Shishiku still and having to fight. But Hinako tells him that she loves Shishiku and can’t leave it yet which Rintaro tells her he understands.
The next day Hinako, Rintaro, and Nozomi all eat lunch together on the roof. Since Rintaro has a part time job, Nozomi decides to do what he can ehile living with Rintaro and makes lunch or dinner from time to time. Hinako then suggests she’ll come over to cook food with them. So that coming day Hinako comes over to Rintaro and Nozomi’s place to make okonomiyaki with them. Hinako tells Nozomi about how she knew Rintaro when she was in the orphanage with him (without revealing her gender) so she often considered him an older brother. This turns on Nozomi’s brocon so he gets jelly about it but Hinako tries to reassure him that Nozomi is his one and only brother now.
After that, Hinako walks home with Rintaro who has been dying to be alone together with Hinako. They walk to the park and when Hinako mentions it looks creepy, Rintaro takes the opportunity to say she can hold onto him if she gets scared (he so thirstyyyyy). Hinako says she’s fine since they can’t have anyone see them anyway but Rintaro is just so thirsty for her he decides to stroke her face on a bench and just stares at her for a while lol. He says they never get alone time and its because he loves her he wants to have her to himself from time to time. So, they decide on their next day off they’ll do something with just the two of them.
Hinako meets Rintaro on the roof the next day and asks where they should go for their date. Rintaro tells her he always wanted to take her to the beach and Hinako says she’ll wear girl clothing which makes Rintaro a happy campy and says he’s looking forward to it. So they decide that’ll be their date spot but as soon as Hinako can say anything else, Nozomi appears along with thr rest of the gang who followed. Rintaro decides to leave then Nozomi’s niisan complex turns on because Rintaro just won’t notice him!! On the day of Hinako’s date, she dresses up in girl clothing that Hikaru picked out for her. When she answers the door for Rintaro he’s so surprised by her cute appearance he’s left speechless and tells her she looks so cute he couldn’t stop staring. So when they get to the beach, Hinako gets all excited as Rintaro happily watches her. He tells her to be careful and of course she ends up tripping.
Rintaro decides he’ll carry her bridal style and Hinako flips out in embarrassment and tells him to put her down lmao. After that, Rintaro sits with Hinako and talks about how he wishes it could always be the two of them. Hinako feels like Rintaro is only seeing the past instead of the future so she brings up everyone else too. Rintaro gets weird about it but then Hinako tells him she loves him and wants to always be by his side. He gets embarrassed to hear her say that and then again says he wants just the two of them to be together. Hinako again feels uneasy when he says “just the two of them” but then Rintaro confirms if she feels the same way. She says she does, then Rintaro suddenly says they should get married (oh boooooy). Hinako doesn’t like that he only sees her and pays no attention to everyone else so she tells him she needs time to think about it.
After that, things are awkward between Hinako and Rintaro. She decides it’d probably be best to distance herself from him for now to make him see his surroundings more but Nozomi ends up noticing that Rintaro is acting strange and asks Hinako about it. So she decides to talk to him and Rintaro tells her his mom says she’s sick and wants Rintaro to come see her. He speculates this is a lie though since their mother would often do so but Hinako manages to convince Rintaro to go see her since its better safe than sorry. So while Rintaro’s gone he constantly texts Hinako about his mother’s situation. He’s worried about her having to fight with their death parade coming up but he assures him she’s fine.
Meanwhile, Nozomi is still depressed over his niichan not texting him and starts thinking he’ll abandon him when he comes back. Hinako of course has to convince him thats not the case and after finding out his birthday through his student ID card, she mentions celebrating his birthday together. So during the sports festival all the first years and second years are fighting each other. Hinako has no choice but to participate and ends up winning. Even so Nozomi manages to prove himself worthy of the first years. After that, Rintaro comes back to greet Hinako before Nozomi can try to talk with him and not giving him the time of day. This upsets Nozomi so he runs off and Hinako tells Rintaro to stop looking at her so much and pay attention to the people around him.
So because of this, Rintaro and Hinako start avoiding each other more. So Hinako confides in Hikaru and Sakaguchi and tells them the situation. Hinako realizes that Rintaro only sees the her of the past and ever since she lost against him in December (this was in the first game where you had to lose to get the romance end) he’d only seen her as Hinako not Hikaru even though she’s changed since she attended Shishiku high. So this makes Hinako realize the only way Rintaro is going to see her as the her now is if she fights him and beats him. So she challenges him to a duel and trains hard with everyone to beat him.
On the day of their fight Hinako manages to beat Rintaro and make him admit he’s lost. Thanks to that, Nozomi also finally gets noticed by his oniichan. So Hinako and Rintaro finally get to celebrate Nozomi’s birthday together. After that, Hinako and Rintaro visit the beach again. Rintaro thanks Hinako for finally opening his eyes and realizing he’s seeing the her now instead of the past her he always wanted to protect for so long. So they kiss under the sunset and promise to make each other happy.
(Soooo very disappointed in this route. I love you Rintaro so much but holy fuck this was so boring at times I nearly fell asleep. I can’t believe Rintaro was barely in HIS OWN ROUTE. HE BARELY HAD ANY DIALOGUE AS IT IS. WTF. If I wanted a route about Rintaro’s brother I would rather AN ACTUAL NOZOMI ROUTE rather than this stupid ‘notice me, oniichan’ bs they pulled in his brother’s route. Not to mention the CGs were a letdown too. I think they only had like 3 romance CGs and the rest were just drama + fighting. And probably because of Hosoyan’s hiatus, his VAing was nowhere to be had…)
Mirako (CV: Kakihara Tetsuya) – Hinako and Mirako walk to school together while Mirako decides to be super flirty now that Hinako is his girlfriend. Hinako tells him to try and keep it to a minimum since she still has to dress as a boy. When they make it to school the first years are all riled up to challenge the top aka Hinako; which makes Mirako decide to tell them to back off cause Hinako is his lmaooo. They stand there confused until Hinako convinces them Mirako was just fooling around with them lol. So Hinako walks off to class and runs away from Mirako who’s being too raburabu for her. After that, Hinako meets Mirako on the rooftop who got a call from his manager to get work. But before going, all Mirako wants to do is have ichaicha time with Hinako and even hugs her so she can’t escape. 👀
After that, Mirako and Hinako are stalked by the producer who worked with him and Hinako (while she was a temporary idol). He begs Hinako to get back into being an idol but Hinako refuses. So he leaves but tells Hinako to contact him if she changes her mind. From then on Mirako comes to school more often but often skips class to go to the health room due to lack of sleep from being an idol. He constantly tells Hinako to come visit while telling the others to go away lol. One day, Hinako gets a text from Mirako saying he feels sick so he went to the nurse office. When she goes there, she finds him fake asleep and he “wakes up” after she touches his hair.
Hinako tells Mirako not to lie about being sick since she was worried so he apologizes and promises he won’t do it again. He tells her that he only wants himself to see her girl appearance and Hinako gets embarrassed. Mirako himself ends up getting embarrassed by how moe his gf lmao. After that Mirako makes plans with Hinako to go on a date during golden week. But because Hinako doesn’t have many girl clothes, she decides to ask Hikaru to go shopping with her (without telling him the reason why) so she can buy some girl clothes for her date with Mirako. They go shopping while Sakaguchi goes crazy over Hinako picking cute clothes and snapping photos lmaoo.
On the day of her date she meets up with Mirako who blushes because of how cute she looks. They hold hands and go to a cafe together. After that, Hinako accidently bumps into a couple of yankees and they start to harrass them. Mirako immediately goes into protect Hinako mode and tells her to stand back. Suddenly Totomaru and Konparu arrive and Mirako manages to hide Hinako so they don’t see her. But the guys run away after seeing they’re from Shishiku and soon Totomaru and Konparu leave. After that, Hinako feels bad for Mirako having to come out in public since he’s a popular idol (and him being with a girl is a no-no) but he tells her its fine since he wants her in her girl appearance. He kisses her hand and tells her he couldn’t do things like that if she was dressed as a boy. So, he manages to convince her and they continue their date after telling her how much he adores her 👀.
So after that, Mirako is told by his manager that he should take July and June off from school to focus on practicing for his performance. Mirako says he’ll think about it but also suspects he has a girlfriend. So Mirako finally tells Hinako he needs to prioritize his work even though he and her will be lonely not seeing each other. But even if Mirako is absent from school she tells him she’ll be fine and she wants him to prioritize his work first. Because of Mirako leaving school, the girls stop coming as well and all the 2nd years despair over it lmao. Eventually the death parade starts to come up so all the students are going to be targetting Hinako for the top spot.
Meanwhile, Hinako thinks of ways of how she can help support Mirako while he’s working hard for his live performance. She ends up contacting the producer to become a staff to help support Mirako. This surprises him at first but he hugs her and tells her to watch him closely. So as days go by, Hinako continuously works as an assistant for Mirako’s idol group. But because of the death parade, Hinako is constantly targetted by first years and gets into fights. Mirako starts to notice her bruises from fighting and feels frustrated for not being able to protect her. Even so, he decides to accept it and Hinako tells him she intends to fight and win during the sports festival.
During the sports festival, Hinako fights alongside the others to win. Mirako is so anxious about Hinako though he decides to leave and go to Shishiku to check up on Hinako. Meanwhile, Hinako is fighting alongside Totomaru and Konparu to beat the first years in the sports festival. They end up at a draw so they suggest for Hinako to dress up as a girl like last year. Hinako decides to do it for the sake of winning and all the yankee guys start to flip out and ask her to call them and say I love you and stuff lmao. Suddenly, Mirako appears and tells them all to back off while pulling Hinako aside. He kabedon’s her and asks why she dressed like that in front of them.
She tells him she did it to win and Mirako again starts to get mad at himself for not being there with her or being able protect her. The next day, Mirako finds out from his manager that someone took pictures of him and a girl (that being Hinako) during golden week when he and Hinako had their date. Because of this, Mirako’s position as an idol is in jeopardy. Mirako meets the guy to tell him thay even if he ruins his career, his group will be fine. So, with no other option, Hinako tells Hikaru that she’s been dating Mirako and the situation behind the photographs. Hikaru flips the hell out but decides to help Hinako “for Mirako’s sake” lmao.
On the day of the live performance, the photos are shown to the audience. Just as they start to flip about it, Hinako and Hikaru appear as a form of twin idols. Mirako’s fans flip out over how cute they are and start to forget about Mirako’s scandal. Hinako explains they were under guidance of Mirako so his fans so the whole thing is flushed down the toilet. After the sucessful performance, Mirako sulks a bit by being protected by Hinako but realizes he doesn’t mind if its her protecting him because he loves her. 😘 When Mirako and Hinako get back to school they have tons of girls waiting for them outside the school so Mirako decides to carry Hinako past them all lmao.
Soon its Mirako’s birthday and Hinako decides to celebrate it at her place while Hikaru and Sakaguchi are out. She makes a cake for him and they eat it together in her room. He gets her to feed him and when she tells him she made the cake for him to do something more “girl-like” he tells her she’s just too cute and gives her a kiss. She tells him she wants to graduate from Shishiku high which Mirako is fine with. He even admits he’s okay with her being more masculine cause she’s still his girl anyway 👀
Houou (CV: Tomoaki Maeno) Hinako is living with Houou and her father after getting married. She’s bow attending the girl’s school that Hikaru attended and Hikaru is forced to go to Shishiku (much do his despair). After Hinako and Houou greet each other in the morning, Hikaru rages over their flirting and having to go to Shishiku while trying to yank off Hinako’s uniform lmao. The guards of the mansion pin him down though and eventually they have a family breakfast with their father before school. After breakfast, Hikaru goes to Shishiku and Hinako goes to her girl’s school after talking with Houou who works late now that he’s graduated from Shishiku.
One day, after Houou comes home from work, Hinako goes to see him in his room. She finds him asleep on the ground with his suit still on; obviously overworked. When she puts a blanket on him, he wakes up. He realizes them they don’t spend a lot of time together because he’s always doing some sort of secret work with dad. So, the next day he tells Hinako he’s going to take off golden week and invites her for it. Houou tells Hinako’s dad and he flips over it since he knows he and Hinako would be alone. So, he decides he’s going to come along and bring the family and make it a family trip (and drag along Hikaru as well lmao).
So they go to their beach house their dad owns and Hinako tells Houou she went there before with her Shishiku friends (making Houou jelly he wasnt there to experience it with her). Houou and Hinako walk along the beach together and Houou hugs Hinako from behind and tells her he wanted to be the one to show her the sea first. Hinako tells him that she did see it first as “Hinako” though so he did still technically show her it first. After that, Houou and Hinako return to the villa. Since Sakaguchi was showing Hinako’s dad some photos he took of Hikaru and her, Hinako’s dad ends up pulling out an album with Hinako and Hikaru’s mother. Hikaru ends up crying so whem Houou points it out, he rages and runs into his room lmao.
After that, Houou sits down on the couch and pulls Hinako on top of him. He manages to keep her that way for a while after kissing her but she gets too embarrassed over it lol. Houou says he waa disappointed it couldn’t be just them on their trip but is glad it turned into a family trip for her and Hikaru’s sake. He also thanks her for becoming his family. When they get back home from vacation, Hikaru is seemingly more depressed than usual. So in order to cheer Hikaru up she suggests to Houou having him meet his friends at the girls school as her twin brother. Houou agrees to it and also gives Hinako some kisses before he goes to work since he doesn’t get a lot of time to monopolize her 👀.
After Hinako tells Hikaru that they’re going to meet his friends, it finally cheers him up so he acts normal again. So on thay day, Hikaru “meets” his friends as Hinako’s twin brother. That night, Hinako and Hikaru spot Houou speaking to a woman. She claims she heard a rumor that Houou was married and Houou denies it. This makes Hinako severely depressed over the next couple of days. Hikaru manages to cheer hee up by going shopping but only for Hinako to get depressed again after she tries talking to Houou. She tries to ask what he’s been doing late at night but when he gets distant, Hinako gets more upset and decides to leave the house for a while.
Meanwhile, Hikaru comes up with the idea to get Hinako to meet up with her Shishiku friends at the cafe Rintaro works at as the sister of Hikaru. Everyone greets Hinako happily and notice she’s different how she used to be (since they knew her as Hikaru portrayed her lol). Eventually, Hinako’s other girlfriends mention her name “Hinako” which makes Rintaro grab her arm and realize she’s the Hinako he met at the orphanage. After realising hee true identity, Houou suddenly appears and tells Rintaro to let go of her hand (poor Rintaro 😭). He drags her out of the cafe and calls her his sister. Hinako demands answers from him but he’s continuously silent so she runs away from him.
The next day, Hinako meets with Hikaru and he tells her they’re going to Shishiku without telling her why. When they go to the school’s auditorium, Houou makes an announcement to the entire school that the one who beat everyone last year was actually Hinako. She herself finally admits to it and apologizes for deceiving everyone. Everyone is shocked but especially after Houou reveals that she’s also his wife as well lol. After that, Rintaro meets Hinako privately to tell her he’s glad he could see her again and can tell she’s happy. He wishes her the best and aays goodbye. (this was hard to watch being a Rintaro fan omg 😭).
Afterwords, Houou explains to Hinako why he’s been hiding what he’s been doing. Apparently he’s been trying to destroy the rest of the group that terrorized their family before since they’ll eventually been released from prison. He didn’t want Hinako to be targetted or for her to be involved so he kept his marriage a secret. Suddenly, some Urashima guys appear. Houou tries to protect Hinako but she tells him to stop cause she can take care of herself! In the end, they beat the guys up but find out they really aren’t loyal to their leader and have no jobs and nowhere to go since they’re yakuza.
So, Hinako suggests they stay with their Onigashima family to work for her dad instead. Hinako’s dad actually agrees to it so as long as they work hard and keep loyal. Hinako believes this is a good way to stop grudges between families. After that, Houou visits her orphanage and asks for her adoptive caretaker’s blessing in their relationship. A few days later, everything is back to normal at their place and its very lively lol. One night, Houou decides he wants Hinako to sleep with him even if dad is against it lol. Now that Houou is done working so much, they can finally spend more time together. Even so, Houou holds back from doing anything else until she graduates.
Ultimate Fighting Summer Camp
Hinako and the others are invited to a club by their leader who begs them to join before people forget about the sport (which is called sepak takraw or a Malaysian type sport similar to volleyball but with your feet). So when Hinako tells Hikaru, he plans to go as well as her sister. On the day they arrive to the beach, Hinako starts making sand castles and Rintaro immediately joins in to build an intense castle lmao. Hikaru appears dressed as a girl and immediately starts flirting with Mirako. Unexpectedly, Houou arrives as well since Totomaru asked him to come, leaving Hikaru to have to hide since Houou would know Hikaru isn’t his sister lol.
While Hikaru hides behind a rock with Sakaguchi, Houou starts to build a sandcastle of their school. Hinako and Rintaro start to help out while Totomaru protects the castle from the waves lmao. After that, they head back to the cottage and the club leader teaches them about sepak takraw and how to play. After watching a DVD with kung fu type music, they all cook curry together in the kitchen. That night, they suggest taking a bath so Hinako is thankfully saved by Sakaguchi and goes to the villa nearby. Hikaru rages since he has no choice but to stay behind because of Houou being there lol. Either way Hinako tells Hikaru to chill until theit practice is over.
The next day, Hikaru goes to the beach to encounter everyone yelling kung-fu cries to the music that played. While the music easentially hypnotized them, they were practicing moves together lmao. Hinako then turns off the music so they can actually practice playing. After that, Hebi turns on the music again so everyone goes back into their weird kungfu mode. So in order to snap them out of it, Hinako kicks their asses lol. So finally after finishing their practice, Hinako goes back to the villa to tell Hikaru she’ll switch places with him so he can enjoy the barbeque with Mirako lol. In the end, Hinako and Hikaru have to keep switching places because Hikaru keeps acting like himself instead of the way Hinako acts.
That night after the barbeque, they all decide to do the test of courage in which they split up into groups and meet up at a certain spot. The group that splits up is dependent on the choices you make throughout this story. So after the test of courage, they all leave in the morning. In the end, they lose the tournament they trained so hard for but promise the team leader they’d be happy to help out again. So they enjoy lighting up fireworks during the day.
Overall Thoughts: I love the characters in this game soooo much! I honestly can’t believe how half-assed the anime was. It could’ve adapted the original game so much better (they actually had the first episode of the anime in the game). You can’t truly appreciate these characters unless you play this game so I am cursing SpikeChuni right now for not localizing this game (yet, I guess…) Anyway (time to insert the salt here), I’m disappointed in this game for the main reason being my fave is literally almost non-existent in this game… EVEN IN HIS OWN ROUTE. I think his presence was comparable to a wall. Its there but no one pays attention to it and it doesn’t respond when you talk to it. If you want proof of Rintaro’s existence, his lines literally consisted of “……” and “!”
I heard from quite a few people mentioning how Rintaro’s route was a disappointment and well, they weren’t kidding. I think it all stems down from Hosoyan’s hiatus which I understand that he couldn’t do lines but at that point I think its best to delay the game instead of pushing for a release for a game with degraded quality. And since Hosoya is pretty much done of his hiatus now, I think it was probably doable. People still pay money for this and now I just feel disappointed in my purchase because my favorite route was seriously screwed over to the point where he was DOUBLE SCREWED in Houou’s route. Anyway, aside from this, I did enjoy the other routes for the most part. I definitely would’ve liked more romance though (being a FD) but in most routes (except Totomaru) everyone was still unaware of Hinako’s identity. I think it would’ve been more interesting if they revealed it. So, yes, I’m a bit disappointed after waiting and being so excited for this game, the route I looked forward to the most ended up being the worst. It was a shitty feeling but at least the rest of the routes made up for it.
Story – I don’t really judge ‘FD’ plots harshly since its really just supposed to be fanservice for the most part but I enjoyed the character routes (aside from being majorly disappointed in Rintaro’s route). Its pretty obvious the first games are going to be more interesting in terms of story. I think in order to make this game more enjoyable, more romance should have been implemented in the story. Of course, I understand fighting is a big part of this game, but keep Hinako’s identity a secret in some of these routes left less amusing scenes to be had and some underwhelming drama.
Characters – I’m glad that for the most part the characters were the same in this game and their charm showed through! Well… aside from Rintaro. I think his existence was so small that he could almost be considered a sub character in this game. I’m not kidding when I say that his brother, Nozomi, probably had more lines than him. Thankfully there wasn’t any sub characters added and it was the same cast with the cute quirks.
Visuals/System – The CG quality is as great as it was in the first game, but I was left wanting more than what I got. Mostly in terms of romance CGs and certain CGs seeming less, needed? I mean, who wants a CG of a zoom in face rather than an actual hug or kiss. The system was garbage though in terms of functionality. I think this game needs to be patched because the loading times & skip times are SLOOOW. There’s a function to skip to the next option but it literally takes 30 seconds for it to load up. I also noticed quite a few audio bugs and skips. Sometimes the audio for certain dialogue was clearly skipping and I heard weird echoes sometimes as if they weren’t even recording in a soundproof booth. Not sure what happened there.
Music – The music was the same for the most part except for certain tracks. There was a new catchy track that I liked that was used for the Promo art which was nice. There was also another one used for the Ultimate Fighting Camp which had a kung-fu type chime to it that I actually really liked listening to tbh. They didn’t play it in any of the after love stories. I think in general though I liked the original opening more.
Final Thoughts: In case you’re wondering, I do recommend this game if you played the first one and enjoyed it. It definitely has the same charm as the first one and I love all these characters. However if Rintaro is your favorite (like me) you may be disappointed in finding out his route was very shafted and his character got barely any lines as it is (so if he isn’t just ignore me and enjoy the game). As a whole I think its a good FD, but I really wish they did a bit more or did things a bit differently. For FD, it doesn’t have a whole lot of romance and I think instead of the whole Ultimate Fighting Camp they should’ve just stuck to the after stories (or added additional routes because they clearly wanted a Nozomi route). Overall, I did enjoy the rest of the routes though and seeing more romance with Hinako and these guys was a real treat! I think Totomaru got the best out of this (because of the plot in his story). I think they laid it out for another game to be had but who knows what SpikeChuni will do with this series now. I was even thinking they’d localize the first game (because of that infamous poll) but SpikeChuni has yet to do so and now its just in a questionable limbo. I’m not sure if it’ll get another game, but you can bet I’ll be buying it whatever it may be!

I read on amazon someone said that Mirako’s route was too serious & bad but I totally loved it so I’m glad it didn’t turn out bad to me like that one review said. Weird, I agree. Mirako’s route was fine to me. The drama used was more or less idol drama which was expected and I think he got probably the best romance scenes next to Totomaru. But yeeeeah companies need to stop making less quality routes for some characters and give fanservice for all characters. I mean come on now. Don’t give me this garbage. If they do happen to make another game, they better make up for this.
